VAT registation for non-UK residents
Hi,
I’m new to the Amazon Seller Account. I am willing to do FBA on Amazon, the UK. I am based in Ireland. I am not sure about the VAT stuff. Do I need to be VAT-registered since I am not a UK resident? If so, how can I do that? I mean, how do I apply for this registration? Sorry for my silly questions.
Thanks a million!

Yes, if you don’t live in UK, and you wish to store stock here in UK, you’ll need to be UK vat registered
You can apply yourself on the hmrc website however, I advise getting an accountant to register and submit your quarterly returns for you

Have a read of Amazon’s Seller University (Learn in the menu) - most that you need to know is there, or ask here.

Hi ,
I am also Ireland based seller but registered in UK and doing FBA.
It has been a long learning curve for the past year and half,
Not a guru and still trying to overcome my lack of understanding into Amazon , and learnt the hard way after working with not so great VAs,
Anyways so far the 4 key lessons learned in my limited understanding so far.
1 - Preparation is the key, don’t just rush into it , give it proper time and research for the product , get the samples and negotiate your best with suppliers, and make sure quality via 3rd party inspection.
2 - Profitability - Source a product that have the selling price atleast 5,6 times your sourcing cost. ( if include shipping and Amazon Fees, then atleast 3 times the total cost).
3 - Listing your product - Images are the key , make some effort to get proper images and design.
4 - PPC - Make use of the honey moon period , first 30-45 days when your product goes live on Amazon, however if overspent in PPC during this time, try to look for long tail key words, and dont waste on the main keywords that would suck up your budget and in no time you would be in a vicious cycle of depleting your money.
Hope it helps, All the best.
