Do Amazon really train their staff to act in this way? When a customer tries to do the honest and correct thing, Amazon policy seems to try and manipulate the customer into becoming dishonest.
The transcript shows the customer telling the agent the item had now arrived and so could the refund be reversed, The agent says no need to, please keep the goods and also the money it’s a gesture of good will (who’s Amazon!!!)
Amazon missed a delivery to myself a few weeks ago and was late by a few days however they did not say to me “OK we will refund you and you can keep the goods”. So why do Amazon discriminate against third party sellers?

I would be challenging this and escalating to MD if necessary - it really is not on CS telling the customer they can keep the item AND refund as a good will gesture.
Your buyer is a good one and obviously still concerned that YOU will get paid for the item.

Have seen and been told this that some CS cannot be bothered to do as instructed.
But have also heard even if a Reverse is done that money is not passed to seller anyway.

It contextually depends. There are circumstances when this is appropriate:
For instance if an overseas seller doesn’t provide a return shipping label overseas the CS will typically allow a refund without return.
I believe that shipments that significantly exceed the EDD are also qualified for a refund.
There are others - so without knowing the circumstances of this order it is impossible to say.

Hmm, this has happened to us before. We just swallowed it because customer service told the customer that it was a goodwill gesture, who then in their right mind insists on paying? I am very interested in the outcome of this though and I really do hope your customer pops back online and then go through customer service to then authorise the payment, and I say this with a heavy heart Amazon are a nightmare for getting any kind of reinbursement for an already refunded order. Has anyone actually got one?

I had an honest buyer try to contact customer services. They spent about 30 minutes trying to pay me and then customer services told them it could not be done.

I am process to Sue Amazon UK in the court of London because was Refunding ITEMs with prices £475 and £499. very spensive items as this Order ID: # 402-3773903-0454702
They refund to the customer the money and give them the Item for free.
I did not receive the item back never and after that asking for proof of delivery which I provided them of all 16 deliveries in 20 documents, and what they say by email alway “there is not enough information” just to not get any responsability and top of that they Desactivated my account asking for the same documents always…
I will shut all their Warehouse for neglet and un-acceptables policy of return making the companies wasting time and money .
Obviously I am honest customer and if want to refund the item obviously I returned as well as normal transaction.
take be carefull what they do with their un-acceptable policy…
