Why charges too much for new seller?

Hi I am a new basic seller of amazon. I sold last week £23.92 but amazon fees showing £18.51 which is almost 77% of sales. Could you please explain why amazon charges are too high? As market is very competitive so if amazon charges too much then how will we do business? and the payment options are looks complicated. Could you please give any idea how to understand payment options in payment page?

When you open a professional account on Amazon you are charged a monthly fee (I presume the 23.92 is pro-rata for your first month) and then you are charged a commission fee for every item you sold.

You can only list in some categories if you have a professional account. You can go to Homepage>settings and change your account type to an individual (private) seller and not pay the monthly fee (you will still pay commission) but then you can only sell items that you have owned personally and do not want anymore. That will not let you sell anything in bulk and in clothing as an example you would need to be a pro seller AND all of the items you sell must be in new condition. If you are importing goods from outside the UK you will also need to register for vat with the tax authorities and pay those charges too. So your selling price needs to be structured to take all of those costs into account when estimating your profits.

We are a pro seller and we are getting charged more than 70% by amazon. We have asked them why and after 2 weeks we get no response only that they are investigation. We are 100% fba and more than 2 thirds of the money from all sales is kept by amazon.

We are also being charged £7 plus per UPS 15kg box to FBA.

Theres seems to be something wrong?

If you are selling kindle accessories than that will be about right. I think kindle products are 70% or there-abouts.

If you are selling things like tablet cases, cables etc make sure you do NOT mention kindle anywhere in title, description, backend keywords etc. Treat kindle as a swear word  - if you want to make money.
