Withdrawal of unbarcoded parcel products

Hi
Got this email today
does anybody know if it is just packets or is it large letters as well
the email says parcels but then says will withdraw unbarcoded items
will be an absolute pain as will have to manually input each address into shipping it will be a nightmare to do large letters as we sell a variety of items a lot are aroungd40g and customers buy two or 3 different colours
so we manually pack them all then do average weight of large letters on OBA su1

Barcoded works if you have items near enough same size etc but we have thousands of mix and match items from 15g to 750g for LL
parcels will be easy enough to sort and book out click and drop but hoping wont have to do large letters

Withdrawal of unbarcoded parcel products
I’m writing to inform you that Royal Mail will be withdrawing all parcels products that do not carry a 2D barcoded label. 2D barcodes are data-rich barcodes generated through shipping solutions, that enable Royal Mail to link an item to the posting customer’s account. The withdrawal of products includes Royal Mail 24® and Royal Mail 48® unbarcoded services as well as the 1D barcoded product variants of Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed® and Royal Mail Signed For® (that use the multi-peel flash labels).

We can see from our records that you don’t currently use 2D barcoded products. We would like to work with you to migrate your business to a suitable shipping solution that will allow you to produce the barcodes you’ll need going forward. Access to non-barcoded products will no longer be available on your Online Business Account following your migration date.

It’ll be large letters as well as parcels - if not now, then soon

Presume you are still using ppi labels on oba ?

Have you ever looked at changing to click and drop ?

Non-barcoded (e.g. PPI) is being phased out over the next 12 months. I was hoping to go back to PPI because of the problems with VTR and 2D barcoded (crl) but my account manager said it is being axed, very soon. It’s a bummer.

we use su1 as well,we held out because most of our stuff is large letter and average weights work brilliantly for us
the only saving grace is thank goodness we are entering our quiet period!.
There are going to be lots of questions to the people who use it on here

Same here, an absolute joke if I’m honest.

Told them time and time again it doesn’t work for us as we manufacture the items on demand, 1.7 million items that we cannot possibly say what the final order weight/size will be, and also which day they will be sent exactly.

Why are so many things being changed all of a sudden? Every week it’s something new…

our sorting office is only open 8-10 am Tues / Thurs etc

so we are limited as well, we have always packed the goods on a Monday and do the OBA paperwork 1st thing Tuesday and drop it off

as I understand it, there is an auto manifest at 6.30 each day, so how does that work

Can I print labels but not ‘dispatch’ them and then manifest on the Tuesday morning and mark as dispatched
Or can I manifest on a Monday and then hand over on the Tuesday morning

If I have 2 x large letter items which when combined would be a parcel, will it know this or do I have to do it manually?

so many questions!

Are you using the old ppi design or the new barcode version?

I use the new barcode ppi design and did not get an email.

I think they just want machines to be able to check your mailings are correct

I really don’t want to have to go back to click and drop, took me so much longer to do the post than it does now.

The irony is that the barcode does bugger all for us. It’s a data grab by RM.

Can you do this in bulk or would I have to do this individually for all 300+ orders

Ebay items
We send a lot of stuff courier, so if a customer buys 6 things separately we can lump them together
or a big item that always goes by courier then a customer also buys something small separately

I can see that we have the option to ‘dispatch by other courier’ and I’ve read it remembers this and removes it
therefore if it removed and it could be combined, we won’t see it?
can we unhide products?

We were dead against it too but Click and drop is much better when you fully integrate it,

another thing there is huge discounts on parcels. I think at the moment the difference between a 24 click and drop parcel and an SU1 24 parcel is nearly £0.50, it All adds up

I find the delivery scans are 80%+ for large letters and even higher for parcels
