Shipping fees on Amazon when USPS has been increasing the costs

Just curious what is your experience with shipping fees. Have you increased lately the shipping fee on Amazon since USPS has been hiking up the prices so much for Media Mail? I have always kept it at $3.97 but now I pay $$5.35 for a regular size book . I am thinking of increasing the fee . Have you noticed a decrease in sales if you increased the shipping fee? What is better: to offer free shipping and count it in the total price or not? Thank you for any insight.

I just leave my shipping at $3.99, and make sure that there is enough in the base price to cover the rest.

On top of that, if you are buying your shipping through Amazon, you can ship most books with Bound Printed Matter, which can save you a dollar or more on most books.

I too struggled with this but finally made the choice to set a flat $5.00 fee for most of my listings (media mail). I do offer (if a buyer buys 2 or more books) to ship via USPS Priority Mail and I've always refunded any excess shipping because I do have repeat customers who order 20 or more titles at a time. For more rare/expensive titles I do have $5.00 to $15.00 (depending on the book's cost) shown but will ship USPS Priority Mail (includes insurance and I'll add customer signature) which I do note in the description.

I have never used Amazon's shipping and (knock wood) have never had an issue beyond one year when I stayed open thru the holidays (I now deactivate here in mid October and reactivate in late January). To be fair that was also during Covid .. so it may be better now .. but I'll continue to stay headache and hassle free here during those months.

On Ebay I ship everything via USPS Priority Mail and have the cost of that built into the pricing of my books listed for sale there. I also will sell there during the upcoming holiday season because I don't allow returns.

Regardless .. best of luck in whatever you choose .. KJ @Seller_ITSm6TMeixAhB
