Competitive External Price is too low

I'm reaching out for some guidance regarding a recent issue I've encountered with my listings. I received an email from Amazon stating that my offer(s) are not eligible to be the Featured Offer due to an uncompetitive price. When I attempted to address this by adjusting my pricing through the Pricing Opportunity, I was presented with a Competitive External Price that is lower than my actual cost of the product. This price doesn't even cover the Amazon fees, making it impossible for me to set a competitive price while still maintaining profitability.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue? If so, how did you resolve it? I'm particularly interested in any strategies or steps that might help in aligning my pricing with Amazon's expectations without incurring a loss.

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Best regards,

@Dominic_Amazon if you could offer any assistance or direct me to relevant resources, I would be very grateful.

I run into this a lot. I also run into where my price isn't the "lowest" price, even though it is. They don't compare apples to apples. My prices include shipping. So when they compare them to an internal or external price they are usually comparing them to a price that is ONLY free shipping if you buy $35 or $50. If you don't then you have to pay shipping of $3.99 and up depending on the site. So if a customer is NOT buying $35 and up then MY price is actually the lowest, but I don't get credit for it.

This happens to me all the time. Amazon have bots that scape the web looking for product matches and if they find the price is lower than Amazon then competitive pricing kicks in.

Unfortunately there is literally nothing you can do, don't bother wasting time with Seller Support as they cannot help with this. Like many things with Amazon, its an entirely automated process.

The only thing you can do is ride it out and wait for the price to stabilise.

Hello @Seller_N0F6Dp60gyUkA,

It looks like our sellers, @Seller_s7F7fMBDtix0dand @Seller_TFtK05AWCtKWm was helping you with some thoughts about Competitive External Price. I would concur that this process may be automated, and you will find more details about this in the How does the Competitive External Price rule work? page. With this, you can choose either of the following:

  • Match External Competitive Price: which will keep your price equal to the Competitive External Price.
  • Stay below the External Competitive Price: which will only update your price if the Competitive External Price falls lower than your current price.

Regards,

- Manny
