8040 nightmare and child/parent STAMPING?

We have a Super Mario swimsuit we listed (with approval) a few months ago. We have Nintendo as the brand, because it is the brand.

We have been selling Nintendo for years- with approval, of course.

The swimsuits were selling great. All of the sudden, they all get "search suppressed" and the parent SKU is separated from the child variations. When we uploaded a new file feed, we get the 8040 error, which says you can't make variations for the brand Nintendo (which is not true because we were were the ones who made the variations/ made the listing). We went through the process and were approved again for Nintendo. However, no matter what we did, the suppression would not lift. The case finally got escalated this is what we get:

CASE ID 15465030621 "I can see that the Child Brand Cannot be Stamped to the Parent Brand ID, as SUPER MARIO is the Child Brand of NINTENDO Parent Brand."

PLEASE SOMEONE TELLS ME WHAT THIS MEANS!

Is she saying 'Super Mario' is the "brand"???

I have never heard of this before and have been selling on Amazon for 20 years.

And just to clarify- I am really just wanting to know how to set up brand names at this time because it seems Amazon has changed its requirements and I want to make sure I do it right

- If Nintendo is the global brand, but it is a Super Mario shirt, what brand should I put?

- Or if it is a Disney Toy Story shirt, do I put Disney or Toy Story as the brand?

- If it is a SEGA Sonic shirt, do I use SEGA or Sonic as the brand?

Thanks

Hi there @Seller_Cxhg8nqYX0Hww,

I'm sorry you were given unclear messaging regarding this ASIN. It can be complicated when multiple Trademarks apply to a single product. In general I would recommend that you list the product with the Brand Name used in your invoice and what is provided by the distributor.

Regarding this specific ASIN, you may need to get approval for both Nintendo AND Super Mario to lift any suppression this ASIN. However at this time the ASIN does not appear to be search suppressed.

If you run into any further difficulties with this product please let me know and we can see what options exist. Thank you.

-Glenn
