Discrepancies Between Amazon Summary Report and Transaction Report – Need Help with Reconciliation

Hello fellow sellers,

I’m currently facing a challenge with reconciling the financial data between the Amazon Summary Report and the Transaction Report for the period of September 2024. After reviewing both reports, I’ve found some significant discrepancies, and I’m hoping someone can provide insights or guidance on how to approach this reconciliation effectively.

Here’s what I’ve discovered:

Product Sales Discrepancy:

The Summary Report shows total product sales of $5,853.03, while the Transaction Report indicates $5,627.10. I’ve double-checked for missing transactions or refunds but still can’t account for the $225.93 difference.

FBA Fees Confusion:

The Summary Report lists FBA fees as $188.15, but in the Transaction Report, I see much larger FBA-related fees totaling -1,795.39. It appears the transaction report includes additional charges, but these aren’t clearly reflected in the summary.

Shipping Credits Mismatch:

The Summary Report shows -400.18 in shipping credits, but the Transaction Report shows $96.08. This significant difference seems to suggest that the summary is accounting for shipping refunds or adjustments differently.

Service Fees:

The Service Fees in the Summary Report are listed as -98.60, while the Transaction Report contains a mix of service fees, some exceeding -500 USD, making it difficult to reconcile without a more detailed breakdown.

My Approach So Far:

I’ve grouped transactions by type (Orders, Refunds, Fees, Adjustments) and calculated totals for each category. However, the discrepancies persist, and it seems like the summary may be simplifying or omitting certain fees and adjustments.

I’ve tried using Excel pivot tables and VLOOKUP to match data, but there are still large differences I can’t explain.

My Questions for the Forum:

Is it common to see such large differences between these two reports?

How do you reconcile the summary with the detailed transaction report? Is there a more efficient method for matching these reports and accounting for all fees?

Could the summary report be omitting certain fees or aggregating data in a way that makes it inaccurate?

Any tools or techniques you recommend for automating the reconciliation process?

I’d appreciate any advice, especially if you’ve experienced something similar. It feels like relying solely on the summary report is risky, but reconciling manually is proving to be a huge challenge.

Thank you in advance for your help!
