Concern Regarding "#1 Top Rated" Badge Assignment

Hi everyone,

I wanted to raise a question regarding the "#1 Top Rated" badge assignment. I'm seeing a competitor's listing consistently holding the badge, even though the review breakdown seems to indicate otherwise when compared to mine.

Here’s a quick comparison:

My Product:

5-star: 84%

4-star: 11%

3-star: 3%

2-star: 1%

1-star: 1%

Competitor’s Product (with #1 Top Rated badge):

5-star: 81%

4-star: 12%

3-star: 5%

2-star: 1%

1-star: 1%

As you can see, my product actually has a higher percentage of 5-star reviews and fewer 3-star ratings. Both products are in the same category and have comparable total review counts. This raises the question of what additional criteria Amazon may be using when assigning the "#1 Top Rated" badge.

If anyone has insights into whether other factors like sales velocity, variation grouping, or recency of reviews weigh more heavily than overall rating quality, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks in advance!
