Credit Card Compromised by Amazon Japan and now deactivated in Australia

I am a seller on Amazon Canada only.

This morning I received a notification from my bank that an authorisation was made from Amazon Japan. I called their fraud centre and saw that, indeed, there was a pre-authorisation from Japan for 1 penny. I cancelled my credit card and it will be replaced.

A few minutes later I received a mail, purporting to be from Amazon Australia saying that my seller account had been suspended there as the credit card is invalid. I do not sell in Australia or Japan - only Canada.

Why are my credit card details being shared in foreign markets that I am not involved in and why are foreign Amazon organisations making unauthorised charges to my credit card? This smacks of fraud and is being done without my knowledge or authorisation. This is a serious situation that could affect many sellers and requires immediate action by Amazon to protect its sellers and itself from this practice.

The sharing of financial information is a criminal issue and Amazon seems to be okay with it.
