VAT returns in Germany
Hey,
I am a UK company, VAT registered in Germany where I store the products.
Amazon started collecting VAT on all my orders. Do I still need to declare VAT returns in Germany? Since Amazon collects my VAT it would be always 0. Does Amazon also declare my VAT and pays it?

As long as you continue to store stock in Germany, you still need to file VAT returns, even if they are zero.
Where the VAT has been collected by Amazon, they will pay it on your behalf.

Unfortunately yes and it is not on all orders that are stored in Germany where you pay the VAT. The VAT aspect in Germany still works the same way as it did before with fba, Amazon take care of the IOSS orders that you send out from the UK,

So as I understand it. its like this -
Direct Merchant Sales to Europe from UK.
Under the IOSS scheme Amazon collect and pay the German VAT which id held from your actual sales as your remittance is less the tax liability.
FBA sales from Amazon
You ship your inventory to Amazon FBA Germany and pay the duties upfront on your account ( I use UPS) Every month AMAZON send you a AVR spreadsheet ( I am registered with Amazon VAT reporting services) In this document you enter details of shipments Amazon identify as having received into FBA,(Purchase Input Tax/Duties) Details such as Vat exc /Vat amount etc… are input which are then used to offset your VAT liability against sales tax.

You need to pay VAT, and not just in Germany, if PAN EU is enabled; but all countries you sell in.

I am a UK company registered for VAT in the UK and Germany.
We don’t do FBA, but list on DE and all the sales fall under IOSS
I submit a Nil VAT return in Germany every month, and a Nil Annual one.
After a year of those, they sent me a letter saying that i now only have to submit the yearly one as the Sales costs for the previous year were less than €1000.
I do the return myself via the Elstser portal.
