Where are sales in this New Year?
Early to start a 'Where are the Sales', but this new year has started out the worst in 13 years. I was hoping to see a turnaround this year, but what a horrid start. Sales flat-lined now for 3 days in a row. $20.00 total in one week so far. Any other book sellers seeing something similar?

The gift card season is over, and paying tax season is starting. They are the traditional reasons sales slump at this time of the year.
Then there the 75 million+ products that are sold on Amazon. You just have to make sure that yours are the ones buyers want and need.

People splurged during the holidays. They're paying off their CC. The other day, when I was complaining about a financial issue, the man-of-the-house pointed out that when we had a flock of small children, would take till April/May to pay off X-mas debt.
We're selling-but they're mostly inexpensive titles-and quite a few are Mass Markets!! And still get the d--- PRICE ALERTS!!

Typically for us, the end of January and all of February are as slow as it gets.

Yes, they messed with the buy box/,logic and also the way listings are displayed to buyers in the BOOK category, making it extremely cumbersome to search and buy easily.. Many have noted this on this forum previously. My other categories are fine, it appears to be a book category issue .ALL my book listings have suddenly become INELIGIBLE for the buy box, when before MOST were ELIGIBLE. I have gotten zero help with this issue from Amazon seller support, just the same generic bot response about 6 times in a row. Again, this problem for myself is ONLY IN THE BOOK CATEGORY, nowhere else. My book sales are down about 90%. It sounds like you may be seeing the same issue as myself.

I'm told the economy is now better than it ever has been, so we should all be fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

Stimmy checks are gone, savings are below 2019, consumer debt is at all time highs, auto loan delinquency is at all time highs, many well known companies are cutting large segments of high paying jobs, interest rates are at a 15 year high, inflation is still well above their target, etc. Even if the Fed hit their inflation target we would still have inflation, meaning prices would still be raising. Its crushing people.

Our book sales are up actually, consistently over the last 3-6 months.

Mine book sales are slow too, but I looked at same time last year and I am equal, so it might just be the season for slow sales.? Hard to know, really.

in 2023 Q1 actually saw YoY growth in sales and margins but every other quarter 2023 saw a reduction in both Sales and Marign %.
So far Jan 2024 has seen about the same reduction in sales and margins as Q2, Q3 & Q4 of 2023. Down about 30% YoY
