Can't change the brand name in my listing?
Hi guys,
I listed a generic listing, so it only has an ASIN assigned to it. Therefore, the brand should be “Generic” in the Brand field and cannot be changed.
Somehow, I’ve opened up my listing builder today and now the Brand field is populated with a brand name that I intend to use with said product in future. The issue is that this field is locked (and should always have been locked), and now I can’t delete the brand name from the Brand field. I have no idea how that has been added to a field that should have been locked. The listing should have been “Generic” from the beginning, and I shouldn’t have been able to change it. Seems like a glitch in the listing builder or something.
The reason this is a huge issue is that I now can’t save any changes to my listing as it’s throwing me the error:
The value ‘Brand Name’ specified cannot be used as it conflicts with the value ‘Generic’ for ASIN Z in the Amazon catalogue. If this is ASIN ‘XXXXXXXXXX’, update the value to match the ASIN data. If this is a different product, update identifying information (UPC/EAN/Part Number/etc).
How do I update the value if the field is locked? It’s like they’re saying there’s a problem, and then they’re not letting me correct it. I have no idea what to do. I have contacted support, but they keep saying it’s “Generic” in their catalogue, so to them it looks like no issue. I told them I know it says “Generic” on the listing, but my listing builder has the brand name populated in the Brand field and the field is locked, which is throwing this error up and leaving me in a position where I cannot remove this brand name, so the error persists.
Does anyone have a workaround for this?
Best,
S

Have you tried this?
What does it say when you provide ASIN and select Brand?
