Uk based looking to sell in Europe. VAT help

I am not VAT registered as am way off earning that much money.

I would like to sell in Europe but I believe ( having sold a hamper to Ireland) that Amazon automatically takes the VAT and pays it to the government. On that occasion, it actually cost me money to fulfill the order. I did try and recuperate the loss but ‘Amazon computer said no’.

I’m searching for advice on how to proceed but still have no idea how to sell across Europe without incurring an automatic VAT charge from Amazon. I really do not want to open the can of worms of a VAT number and VAT returns when my business and earnings are just starting out.

How do you circumnavigate that? Any advice?

Amazon always UK VAT from the sale price before adding the destination country VAT.

This is fine if you are registered but not if your are not and you will also lose out.

There is nothing you can do to stop this, Amazon won't listen as they believe they are never wrong. So you need to stop sales to Ireland and rest of EU.

Of for every occurrence of this, contact Seller Support and fight your case for a refund of the amount wrongly deducted. This will be a huge fight as they won't understand but if you are prepared for the fight and you understand the issue, you should win.
