Anyone Seem This With The USPS?

Has anyone seen this sort of thing for a refunded shipping label? I had an order on Feb. 21. I printed out the label for it and was preparing to ship, when I noticed something didn't match with the CD and the album artwork. That's when I discovered it was the wrong CD, a completely different band and album, in the jewel case. I sent several messages to the buyer informing of this error and that I would have to refund the order as I had no inventory. Of course, Amazon bounced back 3 messages as Buyer Opted Out Of Receiving Non-Critical Messages. I went ahead and refunded and never heard another word until today when I get a message from customer saying "Update says delivered. It was not. " I replied explaining the refund reason and the bounced messages. On Amazon the tracking # cannot be accessed, so I look up the tracking with USPS site and it shows from April 5 all kinds of transit arrivals and departing from different locations and delivered today In Or/At Mailbox at his address. How is this possible? Back in February I requested and received a refund for the shipping label.

There was a period a few weeks ago (I think mid Feb was the start), where Amazon started reusing tracking numbers that were sometimes only a few days old. My guess would be that someone else bought a label that had the same tracking number, and that is what is showing.

I've not heard anything about it recently, so I'm guessing (hoping) that the problem has been fixed, but even Amazon admitted there was a problem.
