Hi Everyone,

I realize there has been a lot of discussion already on the subject of the updated 2024 FBA inbound placement service fee so I wanted to drop in and provide some resources on the new fees:

We do understand your collective frustration with the changes in these fees, but please know that the FBA inbound placement service fee for standard and large bulky sized products reflects the cost of distributing inventory to fulfillment centers close to customers. Having the ability to place inventory closer to customers in multiple fulfillment centers across the country is critical to delivering products faster and at a lower cost.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I don't see how it is seller's responsibility to pay for and/or worry about how close inventory is placed to the customer. We pay a set fee for fba items to be picked/packed at a rate set forth by Amazon.

If Amazon has to ship an order 10 miles or 1000 miles that is at the prerogative and discretion of Amazon and not our responsibility.

Very akin to a flat rate envelope, the charge is the same no matter where it ships from and to. It is not a a shippers responsibility to specially "place" inventory to use flat rate shipping nor should this.

Very unfair to all.

one of the worst parts about this is you cannot even accurately evalute how profitable a product is because of the random and unexpected shipping costs associated with th eproduct. You do not know where Amazon wants you to send it, how many of each, or if it is even worth it because it is so erratic. This was a bad idea and people are going to have to leave FBA. This affects everyone.

You are aware of the fees BEFORE you send your products. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to price your products where you will make money. If you don't like their price structure, don't use their service. As a business owner, it is your job, to make adjustments needed to make a profit. Amazon has much more overhead and stockholders to please. For every one of you that leaves, someone else will join.

They just keep passing the buck instead of changing their business model.. Eventually it'll reflect their bottom line after they put us all out of business and the marketplace will be filled with a bunch of poor and cheap quality products.

FTC is investigating Amazon over these new fees. I don't have a subscription to read the Fortune article, but they just noted this on CNBC as well. I get that Amazon needs to make money for offering a platform for us to sell.... and maybe they are truly going to reduce the referral fees to compensate for these new inbound shipment fees. But I agree, when I look at our bottom line it is very frustrating to see how much of a cut is going to Amazon.

That is why I'm getting out of the FBA. Amazon takes all the profit. I got (can no say it) for storage fees during the holidays. It is not worth it to do FBA anymore.
