Requiring approval to sell

I have been selling numerous brands with approval to sell them, for many years now. Why is Amazon (suddenly) requiring approval and then when I tick all of the required boxes invoices etc, are they still not approving my application to sell. They also give no reason why this is the case. They are not asking for a LOA just simply an invoice.

Amazon MOD please help with this

"Do you have written authorization or approval from the brand or this company to list and or sell the products from their company? A lot of companies will authorize a supplier, but in their terms of use, you are not authorized to distribute the materials from the site they were sourced from. These suppliers are typically licensed and authorized for sale to the end consumer, no resale. I would suggest reviewing your suppliers terms of use or terms of service and work with the brand itself to obtain a letter of authorization as this will be required at this point to show proof you are an authorized distributor for the concerned brand. So you are additionally aware, if your supplier tries to issue you a letter of authorization, it will not be accepted. They will only accept an LOA if issued by the brand or rights owner only."

Why is Amazon (suddenly) requiring approval

Because Amazon changes the rules daily. Without telling us.

Ya, it's so frustrating that every step of the way there's always another hiccup, even for an experienced long standing seller.

I'ts important to make sure you are buying from a legitimate supplier that's not on Amazon's Band list.

the answer I got was that the brands are changing their rules so you have to really apply. I get a different answer from every staff member I ask.

What slays me about this rule, that wasn't there that I remember 12-15 years ago, is that if you are a private seller, selling personal books, books you have for years or decades - you need to provide a receipt to be able to sell? Really? So much for the private owner/seller of their personal items on Amazon. Plus that there is no live support for Sellers - only Buyers. Why? Buyers need to see products on Amazon. Sellers need to put them there. With such issues as all in this particular blog are saying - why is there no live support to help Sellers? If you don't want us to sell on Amazon, just tell us. Don't waste your time or our time. We'll go elsewhere.

Good Evening @Seller_1jNwrOfIsSIMO,

I wanted to reach out to you regarding this discussion on specific issues you are having with some of your selling applications.

Without a CASE ID, I am unable to fully investigate which brands, categories or listing you are having difficulties with, so please share the most recent case ID (within the last 30 days).

I also wanted to share the link for Amazon's Responsible Sourcing documentation request requirements. Listed below are the requirements for sourcing documentation request:

Copies of invoices, receipts or other similar documents that demonstrate where your products are produced or manufactured

These documents:

  • Should reflect the sales volume of your product across all Amazon marketplaces in the last 365 days
  • Should demonstrate your product’s full supply chain
  • Should include contact information for the supplier(s) and the original manufacturer. We may contact suppliers or manufacturers to verify the documents

Your documents should be able to trace your products to the original manufacturer even if you did not purchase them directly from the original manufacturer. This may require requesting additional invoices or supply chain documentation from your supplier if you are not sourcing directly from the manufacturer.

You may remove pricing information, but the rest of the document must be visible to enable adequate review of the documents you provide. For ease of our review, you may highlight or circle the ASIN(s) under review.

Additionally as @Seller_OvL8C4BJWiuS9 and @Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp alluded to, a letter of authorization can be a valuable to your appeal in these situations if you’re sourcing directly from the brand or their manufacturer.

I also wanted to link our Seller University resource that addresses Invoice requirements for when you apply to sell.

Lastly, if you have a relationship with the brand/publisher, you can to be added as an authorized 3rd party reseller through Brand Registry (but the brand has to add you on their end). Once that has occurred you can attempt to list again and if you still have any issues reach out to support letting them know you are now in the brand's Brand Registry approved list.

Please carefully review all the feedback shared above. Let us know if you have any questions about any of the information provided above or you can reach out to Selling Partner Support at anytime. Have a terrific rest of your Tuesday.

Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon

Good Morning @Seller_1jNwrOfIsSIMO,

Thank you for sharing the cases. While you may have been approved in the past, as the Amazon catalog grows, we continuously make new determinations on which products should be restricted, which is based on a number of factors. Amazon does this to ensure authenticity and customer satisfaction.

If you have a letter of authorization, that can be a valuable to your appeal in these situations if you’re sourcing directly from the brand or their manufacturer.

If the brand you are trying to list is already in Brand Registry AND you have a relationship with the brand, you can be added as an authorized 3rd party reseller through Brand Registry (but the brand has to add you on their end). Once that has occurred you can attempt to list again and if you still have any issues reach out to Selling Partner Support letting them know you are now in the brand's Brand Registry approved list.

While I understand that this may be frustrating for you, Amazon requires approval to sell in many categories, brands, and products and in some instances restrictions and policies change.

Feel free to reach back out to us if you have any additional questions or concerns I can help address. Have a great rest of the week.

Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon
