No book sales in the last two days
I sell about 95% books on Amazon. The last two days I haven't received a book sale. After looking into it, I noticed that the box to display the available sellers is not popping up. When you click on the type of book (hardcover, softcover, etc) suspenseful music pops up but the options for different sellers never does appear. This seems to be happening on the many of the popular selling books. I believe this is why I am not getting any orders for books. Could Amazon please look into this because I do depend on book sales to make a living. Has anyone else noticed a drop in book sales?

Sometimes just waiting is the answer. Other times, I have to reload the page. Just another of Amazon's daily annoyances. (And on many pages there are two links to access available copies...if one doesn't work, sometimes the other one will.)
There are many, MANY threads of declining book sales. Just do a search.

We have recently seen this same thing happen more frequently. In the past several months, it has started to occur when we click on the "Other Sellers on Amazon" option. During the past several months, this would only occur when we clicked on titles that had many copies available - meaning titles that had over 300 or 400 copies or more from different amazon sellers. Lately, we have also noticed that it will often occur when there are fewer copies available - such as 100 or 150 copies.
When it only occurred with high volume titles, we assumed that it was an issue with the page accessing the database of available copies because the database was too large, but the same issue occurring with smaller volumes seems to indicate something else is happening.
We have tried to use different browsers, and it seems to be a universal issue on our laptops and office computers, we have not yet seen it happen on mobile.

Yes, sales are down this year significantly from any prior year. Macro economic trends are against us. Credit card debt is record high, inflation is way up, cost of living is up. People are not spending money freely on "wants" and spending it all on "needs"

Good Evening @Seller_MyRvl9mYbqtNs,
What you are describing sounds like you may have lost your featured offer eligibility on a few of your listings.
If you have a Selling Partner Support case ID, I can begin investigating the issue more thoroughly. I also have a few help pages about how to improve your chances of being the featured offer and why a listing may become ineligible.
Additionally I am linking a few other resources you can check out regarding ways to possibly increase your sales:
- Seller Central help page on Increase sales
- Seller Central help page on Additional tips for increasing sales
- My colleague @SEAmod wrote this post here last week regarding Elevate sales with search optimization
- My colleague @Tatiana_Amazon wrote this post a few months ago about how to boost your sales post-holiday.
- Lastly, here is another post from @Tatiana_Amazon about Amazon search engine optimization (SEO) strategy in which a Selling Partner can improve their product and brand visibility in Amazon search results.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding any of the information I have shared above. Please take care and have a wonderful rest of the week.
Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon

I have had a huge drop in book sales and I depend on that income to supplement my Social Security. I wonder what's going on with Amazon. My business used to be thriving!!

My book sales drastically slowed just after U.S. Mothers day (mid-May). This is a normal thing for my store. The sales seem to pickup in late June or July. Some are textbooks to students taking summer session courses or getting ready for September semesters. Truth be told, I'm too busy with other concerns to spend much time marketing the books and I'm sure that contributes to the decline. (I market through social media blogs, etc.) When I get back to spending time doing specific title marketing, to target audiences, my sales increase. But, by far, my best sales are late August-November and January through early May. Of course, common sense tells us that the economy is hurting most sellers. Increased competition also hurts.

Hi, I have noticed the same. My sales have dropped 90%, and it's been like this since May. Amazon is favoring its sales. You can see that Amazon's offer is the only one on the initial page 'Sold and Shipped" by Amazon. Even if you have a much lower price, the algorithm will not promote your offer. When regular buyers go on the page, they don't see the other offers. This is the reason that we don't make any sales.
I believe that Amazon could get in trouble for this. I am waiting to see a lawsuit case happening, in the meantime we have to find anotehr source of income. Best

I am going to be leaving this dystopian corporate place and am getting ready to bail after selling books here for almost 15 years. Book sales have been poor all year, and have never recovered since the last burst we got during the Covid era. I am lucky if I sell one book per day and so one issue causes my ODR rate to be subject to bad percentages. I have noticed the book drop-down condition feature is just awful, and not user-friendly- I find it hard to buy a book I want, so I can see why it would affect sales.
I keep getting notices that listings are deactivated due to high pricing errors - on a 5-dollar book, FFS. Too many approvals are required. The final straw was Amazon not supporting me on a buyer lying and leaving negative feedback. This is going to be a sad place when all that's left for book sellers are my IMO, the low-grade sellers that sell garbage and old library books in vinyl mailers or those vacuum-sealed heavy card stock mailers that ruin books. Well, I loved selling books here, but, it's no longer worth the worry and stress. Amazon, in my opinion, doesn't care about booksellers, and that's sad because many (not me) long-time booksellers were the backbone and built this company in the beginning.
