Insurance Required for Small Sellers Now??
Hello ,
Is Amazon now targeting sellers who sell WAY UNDER 10K a month to get insurance? I sell books and cds/dvds and got a notice today to get insurance in 30 days. Never ever have i gotten close to 10K in a month. Most months are about 1/4 of that or less. Books are not something that are a high risk of injury like toys or supplements. Perhaps they are concerned someone may get a papercut from a book page...
My acct health is perfect with no issues and i have not had any lost AZ claims or ever sold risky items, I only sell books and cds/dvds.
It seems like them saying "10k a month OR AS REQUIRED BY AMAZON" with the last 5 words being key meaning they will start imposing this extra expense on very small sellers who are no where close to 10k a month. I did it of course to remain compliant and to avoid issues, but I am curious to see if other low volume book sellers are being targeted to do this as well.

Hi @Seller_QwsGFgUQDr6Qn
Connor from Amazon here, thanks for reaching out to us today.
I wasn't able to find anything sent about requiring you to get commercial insurance. Have you reached out to seller support about this yet? They will be able to look into this further on their. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
I am here to help if seller support is unable to assist you with this.
Cheers,
Connor

What an absolute worthless insurance it is to. It is just giving away money for nothing. This insurance will never be used. They know it will never be used. Its just another con job by scamazon. Been selling the same stuff since 2005. Nobody is getting hurt by a plastic disc.

My opinion is:
They don't want you (smaller seller) here, so they are going to add requirements until you grow bigger or quit.

Did you have ONE month where your sales were 10k?
So, you went ahead and bought the insurance?
I am a MUCH lower volume book seller than you are and have not gotten a notice (so far). May I ask, how much per month this is costing you?
Thanks,
Debbie

Hi,
I am a small-volume bookseller. My situation is identical to your description. Amazon requires insurance in addition to other "great regulations," such as deactivating listings for "fair price violations" or keeping the $3.99 Seller's shipping credit unchanged for over a dozen years despite ever-rising shipping fees.

I also only sell books and received these emails informing me about insurance on the following dates:
03/28
04/15
05/23
12/06
In none of these months did I even reach 5,000 USD.
But I clearly see that when the email arrives, sales plummet!

A book will cause an accident only if it is devoured.

For example, there is this url on SellerCentral
