Amazon UK Account Reverification

Hi. Amazon wants to reverify my sole trader account.

In email they sent me the list of documents

What type of document do I need to provide? Business verification documents:
One of the following documents issued by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) within the last year:

  • Class 2 National Insurance Contributions (NICs) Bill
  • Online VAT Certificate
  • Self-Assessment notice to complete a tax return
  • Letter confirming your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number
  • Self Assessment Statement - Short Tax Return.

But in Identity information the want to upload Power of Attorney

power-of-attorney

I believe they made mistake and they want to upload one document of those in email. Cold someone comfirm it please?
Another question is about Online VAT Certificate. It is dated but I can download it only. Would it be OK?
Regards
Jack

You need to upload one of the required HMRC documents via that Power of Attorney button - it is misleading and you are not the first to be confused by this.

Cannot comment re. the VAT certificate, but if you have one of the others then that should be fine - they accepted my ‘Notice to complete tax return’

Hi @JillyB1 - are you sure it’s different documents they require, rather than a letter from myself to myself? Just that I too have suddenly got this and before I upload anything, not that I have any other docs for the dated period right now (need to phone HMRC), I just wanted to check. Sole trader, not Vat registered.

I’ve had this recently too and yes it is a letter from yourself authorising yourself that it required! I also sent a recent letter from HMRC regarding completing the annual tax return as it was more recent than my VAT correspondence. All was accepted very quickly. I used a template suggested by JillyB1 (I think) that I found whilst searching these forums.

Yers should be - I recently uploaded my Online VAT certificate and they accepted that ok.(Last week).

Good news! Your Selling on Amazon payment account has been activated.

I wanted to test VAT Certificate but I noticed there is no middle name on this certificate (which I updated now)

What I uploaded is: Self Assessment Statement

I downloaded it from

https://www.access.service.gov.uk/login/signin/creds
Self Assessment -> View payments and credits -> (right menu) View statements

Zrzut%20ekranu%202023-07-27%20152839

and saved as PDF.

Additionally Vat certificate link to remind:
https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/vat-through-software/vat-certificate

Thank you for your help

I’ve tried uploading my UTR letter, my UTR letter plus a POA letter and just a POA letter on its own.

Is it normal, once uploaded and you click Save, for the Submit for Verification to be greyed out? It’s the same each time and I have no proof that anything was actually uploaded. Nothing in performance notifications apart from the original message which says once uploaded, click the Submit for verification button.

Seems to be an issue doing this on a desktop (iMac, Chrome). Did it via the app and it let me Submit it. Maybe something for a mod to look in to.

Just to confirm, although it took a few days, I’ve just been verified with my HMRC UTR letter - no POA letter.

My HMRC letter had my name as just initials (Mr N S Barr) whilst my Amazon account has my full name. But everything was accepted with no issue.
