The credit card chargebacks have caused us a loss of several thousand dollars. Not only are we suffering financial losses, but we are also being penalized by having chargebacks under review counted toward our ODR. This is absolutely absurd.

We are writing to express our confusion regarding the ODR (Order Defect Rate) performance evaluation principles, particularly concerning chargebacks. A chargeback occurs when a buyer disputes an unauthorized order directly with their bank, often without ever contacting us first. We believe this should not be tied to our store's performance metrics, as these disputes are between the buyer and their financial institution.

Additionally, several chargeback cases are still under review, yet they have already been counted toward our ODR performance. This seems highly unfair, as Amazon cannot fully protect sellers from buyers exploiting chargebacks to obtain products for free. At the very least, ODR cases that are still under review should not be included in our performance metrics until a final decision is made.

We kindly request that you review and remove the following orders from our account's ODR impact:

Happy441 - since your chargeback cases are under review, they would need to be concluded by the assigned investigations team.

Amazon does not count fraudulent transaction chargebacks toward your ODR. However, a service chargeback (where the buyer acknowledges a purchase, but indicates to their credit card issuer that they experienced a problem), would count against your ODR if the credit card company decides in favor of the buyer. Here is how you could further respond to a chargeback claim.
