Add Product without External Product ID
Hi, Im trying to add my product and every time ti click Variation to add the size and color the button for "I do not have a Product ID' disappears. How do I had my Brand approved product without a having to add and external product ID. All the information Ive seen just tells you to list it as Generic and I want to list my Brand

Hi @Seller_HzK2fDvsveHtj,
Amazon does allow for exceptions to the external product ID requirement, but these are granted only under specific conditions. Brand Registry itself does not affect this requirement. Instead, what matters is whether you have a brand-level exception for external product IDs, which must be applied for separately.
Exceptions are typically considered for products that are handmade, custom, or in categories where GS1 codes might not apply. However, the simplest and most reliable approach, especially if you’re aiming for a smooth listing process, would be to purchase a UPC directly from GS1.
As for setting the brand name to "Generic," this does not impact the external product ID requirement. Since you’re already enrolled in Brand Registry, I strongly recommend using your registered brand name. Not only does this align your listings with your brand, but it also allows you to fully leverage the Brand Analytics features available to registered brands.
Hope this helps clarify!
Best regards, Michael
