Brand approval as a seller

I am sourcing a product that is not currently listed as a brand on Amazon. Can I complete Brand Approval during the add a listing step as a seller? The brand owner is not interested in the Brand Registry step. I want to avoid listing the product as “generic” since it is clearly branded and I have no intention of claiming ownership by completing the Brand Approval step. Is this acceptable?

My understanding of Brand Approval is that it is not a claim of brand ownership and simply to prove that the brand is real and it exists (hence pictures as proof). Of course, any other seller can then use the same brand name if they choose to list other products by the same brand.

Feedback appreciated. I don’t want to unknowingly make a mistake here.

Hello @Seller_TRy6sSZuGxtZK

This is Christine from Amazon Forums.

In this case, if you are not the brand owner, you can register as authorize user.

In the application, you can select the option I do not own the trademark, but have a licensee agreement.

I do not own the trademark, but have a licensee agreement: Check this box if you do not own the

trademark but have a legal contract with the owner for the use and registration of the trademark on Brand

Registry. This is a formal document that might include the start and end date of the agreement and other

contractual elements agreed between the trademark owner and yourself or your company.

Select the option that best suits your situation. Depending on how you answer, you will be asked to submit a

copy of proof of trademark ownership: either a copy of the authorization letter from the trademark owner of

the brand or the proof of licensing arrangement/contract with the trademark owner.

If you are not the brand owner, we strongly recommend having the brand owner enroll the brand and then

add you as an authorized user.

I also would like to share with you the following links that will help you complete this process:

I hope this information help you clarify all your doubts.
