Generic Listing Requiring Approval

Hi all

Has anyone had this issue before? I sell only on listing I’ve created, some are generic where the product is sold by the manfacturer to all and sundry and some are my own brand where I design the product.

Amazon have removed me from listing on 4 of these generic listings, including my best seller because I don’t have approval to sell brand Sconscutio. The product page clearly shows these still Generic branded.

Now a quick Google of Sconscutio reveals it means Unknown in Italian.

I’ve opened a seller support case, but has anyone had this before?

Thanks
Steve

Sorted, I think!

I got an email back from someone at the MDs office, who said he’d figured out the problem, and had changed it to allow me to list. A quick refresh by updating the inventory and voila, all back and listed!

I had this email below from Amazon yesterday morning and they look like they have put in restrictions for Sconscutio products.

I don’t sell any products for Sconscutio but I do have a few Generic products but none of these have been flagged for approval yet.

Your best bet is to appeal to Seller Support for them to reinstate the product stating clearly they are Generic products and not Sconscutio products. It may need escalation to the MD Office

Hello,

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best possible customer experience, we have implemented additional approval requirements for Sconosciuto products.

Effective 2022-05-14, you will need approval to list the affected products. If you do not obtain approval by this date, your listings will be removed. This action does not impact your account health.

How can I reinstate my listings?

To request approval, go to the Approval Required view within the Fix Your Products page in Seller Central and select Request Approval , or see the following: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/fixyourproducts.

Alternatively, use the following steps to request approval:

  1. In Seller Central, click on the Inventory menu, and then select Add a Product .
  2. Search for the item you want to sell.
  3. In the search results, click on the Apply to Sell link next to the item.
  4. Click on Request Approval to start the application process.

Please note that in some scenarios we may not accept applications to sell certain products.

Were your listings removed as a result of an error?

If you believe your products have been misclassified within a certain category or sub-category that requires approval, please contact Selling Partner Support with evidence, such as product pictures, to support this claim. Amazon will review your claim and make a final determination that will ensure the best shopping experience for our customers.

What happens if I do not take action?

If no action is taken, the affected listings will not be available for sale in the Amazon store.

We are here to help

For more information about products that require approval, search for Categories and Products Requiring Approval in Seller Central or see https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/200333160.

Which of my listings were removed?

The listings that were removed can be found on the Approval Required view of the Fix Your Products page in Seller Central: https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/fixyourproducts.

Thanks Smiley_Guy, glad I’m not alone. I had the same email and overnight, several of the Generic products were removed. I’m the only seller on them, and it’s not just a standard KYC check as if I go to Add the Product again, it still says approval needed. On the plus side this means no-one can jump on the listing, but hopefully I won’t lose all that sales history.

Cheers

Just to provide an update, whoever is at Seller Support didn’t understand the problem, surprise surprise and just told me I need to provide invoices to be approved for the Sconosciuto brand, which clearly I can’t do as I’ve no idea what it is.

I’ve escalated it to the MD.

I have exactly the same problem, have raised it with Seller Support and also uploaded my invoice via Request Approval while telling them it’s a Generic product but they keep coming back with this response.

"Thank you for your application to sell [Sconosciuto] products.

We are unable to approve your request at this time. Please review our previous correspondence regarding the specific actions you need to take, and then follow these steps to submit a new application:"

Can you tell me how do I escalate this case to MD office? I dont see any option to escalate on the case.

Thank you very much

So, I’ve kept up correspondence with SS in order to find out why a Generic item I created now needs approval. This was the response;

“Please be informed that Selling Partner Support does not review these applications neither do we have any further insight on this matter.”

So basically, they don’t know either. Oh and then they told me this;

“Please be aware that reopening this case will not change the resolution, and you will be violating the Guidelines for contacting Selling Partner Support.”

So basically, ‘we don’t know, so f off.’

Thanks SS, very useful.
