Error 8541. How do I change the title of my listing?
Try to change the title of my listing, and it shows 8541 error on edit page, saying that the title of the listing in the system is inconsistent, so it can’t be changed.
I followed the advice of customer service, deleted the listing with the file, and then uploaded it 24 hours later. Because the customer service said that it could delete the title information of asin stored in the system.
However, in fact, when uploading the file, the 8541 error will still be displayed, which makes it impossible to upload the listing at all.
If I upload the listing with the original title, I can still receive the error on the edit page.
In addition, I have repeatedly deleted the listing 3 times, because the customer service will only give me this method forever.
Is this a problem with the Amazon system?
I can’t understand why I can’t change the title of the listing of my own brand.
Has anyone encountered the same problem?
Could you give me some advice? I am very grateful for your help.

You should not have deleted the file, you should have persevered with changing the title on the listing, I personally think it was bad advice to delete it and upload with new information.
The problem is when you delete your listing, it still remains in the Amazon catalogue so if you try to change it then it will bring up the error 8541 when you go to relist.
To rectify, you will need to get back to your earlier stage by adding it back with the old title and then contacting brand registry and ask them to modify the title if you are unable to do this for yourself.
To answer the question is this a problem with the Amazon system, i would say no it is doing its job, to change a title you must modify it.

Same here. It’s extremely frustrating and a huge waste of our time.
We can’t believe this is still a thing! Absolutely horrible rule.

Have same issue here and no resolution! If anyone knows anything, please do let us know…
We are also part of Premium s360 Amazon support program, and there were some suggestions coming from their side but we couldn’t understand what this even means. Please note that we tried performing the full update via upload many times.
Here is the copy of their reply:
After reviewing your request with our internal team, many conflicts occur because the merchant attempts to use merchant_suggested_asin (MSA) to assign their SKU to a particular ASIN.
This may be explicit (in a feed), or it may be the result of selecting a particular ASIN in the 1x1 Seller Central GUI. In many cases, a conflict may be resolved by simply removing the MSA value and re-submitting – Matching will attempt to locate the correct ASIN to assign the SKU to, or a new ASIN will be created for the SKU if no appropriate match can be found.
We request you to keep the merchant_suggested_asin(MSA) attribute blank and perform a full update.
Please follow below steps to perform a full update:
Download a file:
-
Log in to seller central and go to this link:
https://sellercentral-europe.amazon.com/listing/download?ref_=xx_download_tnav_status -
Select the category of the product you are going to enroll by clicking on the name of the category.
To fill out the information in a file:
a. Open the downloaded category specific file in Excel.
b. Locate the tab that says Data Definitions/Valid Values. These include the description of all the attributes, their types, meaning and intended use. Please review all the information that is required by the system to create a listing.
-
Locate the Template tab, and provide the information about the products you wish to enroll; include the SKU of each listing, select “Update” in the update delete column, and include all the required attributes as per the Data Definitions/Valid Values tabs.
-
Once finished, save the file as an XML file or excel workbook. Additionally save the file as a Text-Tab Delimited, by using the save as option and changing the file format to that value. How to upload the template?
- Click on 'add products via upload in inventory tab from your seller account.
- Click on 'check and upload your inventory file tab in the page.
- In this tab, in step 2, select file type as 'inventory file for non-media category.
- Click on ‘browse’ button and attach the file you have already saved in your system.
- Once you attach the file, click on ‘upload’ button. Once you upload the feed file the changes would go through in 24 - 48 hours.
