Why does amazon refund on my behalf

Is anyone else sick of their orders getting refunded within 10 mins of the buyer contacting Amazon?
does anyone else think its completely out of order for amazon to take control you’re business in some sense?

sorry but can some please let me know why they think this is fine to just do this?

I’m pretty sure some if not all of us clearly know how to run a business, whether its a actual shop or ecom sites we ALL understand that if a item is faulty, damaged, missing piece from the order, sent the wrong item, damaged in transit that they will need to go through the return process and handle it accordingly. all these are possibilities, these aren’t things we do purposely… its clear that amazon put the blame solely on the sellers when theres so so so many attributes that could come into play, e.g damaged in transit, buyer given the seller the wrong address to be posted too. But of course that is the sellers fault ha. . . . . . . . . .

as a business we need to have the product returned to us for examination and mainly due to the fact no one wants to be handing out free goods to the buyers (thats what you call BAD BUSINESS) not only that but a lot of the time the buyers get the item then claims it to be no good for use or lie about it being faulty for a return. to be honest though I don’t care if they decided to do that I care about getting my product back the way we sent it before the refund is issued.

I’m not being funny or nothing but I’ve picked up on a lot lately, the buyers of amazon aren’t soft at all let me tell you that, the service that amazon produce meaning instant refunds to buyers just screams ‘free product’. sorry but do I have ‘mug’ written on my forehead??

what I am trying to understand is that

  1. amazon clearly don’t trust their sellers to handle and organise these claims that the buyers bring to the table.
  2. there is absolutely no business sense in having our money refunded to the buyer without even getting into contact with the buyer or even amazon to try and figure out whats gone one…
  3. I’ve lost out on about £2000 from claims that had been instantly refunded by amazon, I’ve got about 4 appeal claims cases being reviewed from months back, of corse still not resolved.
  4. would the owner of amazon want all the fees paid by the sellers refunded without him knowing or even without a fight?

PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER ME THIS QUESTION… WHY IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?

I think most of us would agree that it’s not acceptable but it’s how Amazon play their game.

Do you upload any tracking numbers BEFORE you press the dispatch button?

Scammer + No Tracking = Instant refund

The sad reality is that Amazon aren’t as choosy about who they allow to sell as they used to be. Nowadays they’ll let any Tom, Dick and Harry come along and scam their customers, and even when these scammy sellers are reported they are far too slow to act.

The result is that instead of investing in prevention they seek to ‘cure’ everything with a sledge hammer.

We all feel your pain.

These quotes from his OP doesn’t suggest he is talking about INR claims?

we have had a nightmare of late. we had an a-z claim opened on the 7th for item not recieved. the item was delivered on the 8th and the tracking was uploaded on the system. on the 12th amazon found the claim in buyers favour and immediately refunded the buyer at our expense despite the tracking showing it had been delivered. we then spoke to the customer with regards to the order they received and they agreed they had received it and agreed they wanted to reverse the refund so we appealed the a-z including the message from the buyer stating they were happy with the product and wanted to be recharged but amazon still found the appeal in the buyers favour and have not reversed the refund and we are out of pocket by several hundreds of pounds and we have an order defect also. are amazon mental? it really baffles me how their system works sometimes. Where do i go from here any help would be appreciated.

What would be interesting to know is do Amazon apply the same rules to themselves. when refunding orders.
Do they refund orders before receiving the goods back. in my own experience as a buyer , i have always had to return faulty items back to amazon before i was given a refund.

This is something i’ve been thinking about. Sometimes i see an item returned, but SS don’t ask the buyer if there was any fault. Lie i might sell a book and have it returned to amazon… i don’t so much need it back, but i would like to know if i need to be aware of something like people returning a book due to the ‘edition’. then i can put the edition in the condition notes. Or whatever.

My gripe is that anything ‘new’ or ‘like new’ will likely come back looking old.
the other thing is…what it there’s a nasty reason for the item being returned that i need to jump on in order to fix the rest of my stock?

I’m happy to have someone do customer service for me, but i doubt amazon can do customer service anything like me.

The problem we have as being taken for a mug is that people think it’s multi-billion dollar amazon giant corporation they’re ripping off or getting a meal ticket from rather than a company.

Do you know why we get so many returns because the customer knows the seller will lose their outbound shipping costs plus Amazon fee. I recently noticed having read the forum sellers do not need to refund the SHIPPING costs.

Attached is the info
