Removal fee increase

hi my removal fee has double from last year. Is this the same for everyone? - it’s now £1.15. Is there a cheaper way of getting them sent back as I read somewhere there is?

Removal fees have gone up in the last year.

Assuming that your product weighs between 500 and 1000 grams then 96p is the removal fee. Add on 20% VAT and that takes it up to the £1.15 figure you quote.

So if your product is in this weight band then your removal fees are correct.

There is no cheaper way of getting the item removed. There are no shortcuts to getting cheaper removals...if there were all sellers would use it!

The rate card for FBA fees is easily available. Looking back over previous rate cards I can’t seem to see any change recently on removal fees, but I don’t think they’d be looking to single out specific sellers for an increase.

As for a cheaper options none I’m aware of. It’s more expensive now to dispose of the goods by the rate card. So not sure what you’ve read, though past knowledge of your threads, I’d be interesting to know why you are using the removal service for.

FBA is ridiculously expensive these days especially when you start to factor in all the backend costs like this.

I'm unsure if this is a deliberate tactic by Amazon to force sellers back into fulfilment from the seller's warehouse or if it's just sheer greed.

Apparently the game will be changing soon if the rumours are true. Shopify is allegedly developing a marketplace with all the individual shops using their software. An app is already out but it's in its infancy. If done properly it could work, buyers would have a wide range of products.

If the UK had a 'Walmart' equivalent marketplace then I feel like it would be an absolute game change for the competitiveness of the marketplace. Benefitting both buyers and sellers alike!

Amazon will do anything to make sure they line their pockets and fleece Small Business Sellers for as much as possible just so they can enjoy their Platinum Lined coffins.
