Frequently Returned Item Badge of Death
The new Amazon badge that marks products with frequently returned badge is poorly thought of and hurts sellers. I see it on a few of our items. On one particular item that is a cup holder for poker tables, almost 90% of the returns are for the same reason. Customers do not pay attention to the size of the product that is clearly shown in images, and in bullet points and in description. We are practically begging the customers to pay attention to the dimensions. Yet, most returns state that the item was too small and now we are being punished for it by Amazon.
The fair thing is to punish customers who want to return an item due to size when the size is clearly indicated in multiple places and on images. What else can a seller do?
Unfortunately, the high volume of returns are exclusive to the spoiled USA customers of Amazon as retailers have trained them over the years that you can buy items and then just return them, no questions asked. We sell our products on Amazon Australia site as well and our return rate is orders of magnitude less, like 99% less.
Amazon USA with their policies are simply pushing us hard working merchants off their site. It is no longer profitable doing business on Amazon. You will lose our sales, our advertising dollars, and our respect. Merchant partners had some value to Amazon when Jeff Bezos was the CEO. The new CEO is on a mission to drive everyone away.
