[CLOSED] Get answers about Transparency at an Ask Amazon event today, March 19th!

imgHi Sellers,

Welcome to our Ask Amazon Q&A focusing on your questions about Transparency! This thread will be open today, March 19th, from 9 am to 5 p.m.

What is Transparency?

The Transparency program helps brands stop inaccurate and counterfeit products, improve customer engagement, and gain valuable insights into their supply chain. With Transparency, you can:

  • Verify product authenticity: Use unique codes to ensure that only authentic, accurate items are shipped to customers. Whether they’re fulfilled by Amazon or shipped directly by a seller, your products can’t be sold in the Amazon store without this Transparency protection.
  • Engage with customers: Connect with customers’ post-purchase. Both the Amazon Shopping and Transparency apps allow customers to scan codes to confirm authenticity and access promotions, videos, posts, or other content about their item.
  • Optimize your supply chain: Get additional insights on your units at the batch or lot level, helping you identify supply chain issues, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions with minimal disruption to your business.

For more information, please go to the Transparency program page.

If you are already enrolled, or thinking of enrolling in Transparency, we would like to hear from you!

Please include any questions you have regarding Transparency in this Ask Amazon event thread. Our partner team will be reviewing the questions that come in throughout the day and we’ll do our best to respond as soon as possible.

If a SFP/MFN item is shipped to a customer with a transparency code and is subsequently returned in sellable condition and restocked. Will the transparancy code still be valid on the 2nd purchase?

Secondly, what are sellers to do if a product comes back from return missing its transparency code

After enabling Transparency, what happens to the inventory already in Amazon's warehouse that doesn't have Transparency labels?

Is it possible to enable, disable, enable, disable Transparency on a given ASIN? If yes, is it the matter of pressing a button and the effect is immediate?

The Transparency program seems a bit excessive - why not just have a proper process for getting Brand Gating?

If we already have non-transparency inventory in AWD and then enable Transparency, will FBA accept the inventory from AWD?

Does Amazon share the Transparency code(s) associated with each customer order (i.e. does it provide some sort of supply chain traceability)?

Hi Sarah.

We are a small brand based in the UK. We'd like to enrol in Transparency but it requires a VAT number to complete the registration. We have trademarks registered with the IPO.

Is there a way to overcome this? We've had people try and jump on our listing, and it's a very unique product that we have designed ourselves - that they do not have access to.

Thanks,

Peter.

When will Amazon be integrating Transparency label functions into bulk buy shipping and amazon shipping services.

currently a seller has to buy-shipping 1 at a time

if a seller wants to bulk buy shipping they have to upload a flat file to set the transparency numbers against each order - which is dangerous it is too easy to erase tracking numbers or reset despatch dates this way - which then causes other problems.

it seems Amazon are happy to promote transparency to brand owners - but have not made provisions for sellers.

-

2nd question.

a number of manufacturers seem to be using Transparency to control the online pricing of their product.

One accessory manufacturer that we know of - put product into distributors for retailers to buy - but the stock on amazon they sell themselves direct to consumers via fba has transparencies codes - this prevents genuine customers of the distributors from selling on Amazon - and thereby controlling the price paid by the consumer as there is no online competition.
