Novel food means any food that was not used for human consumption to a significant degree within the European Union before 15 May 1997.

Prior to selling any Novel foods or products containing Novel foods, you need to notify the competent authority and obtain all necessary authorizations (Regulation (EU) 2015/2283).

A list of the EU novel food authorizations can be found here.

Products containing ingredients that are not authorised or are restricted under the Novel Food Regulations, such as:

  • Miracle berry
  • Globe amaranth
  • Pueraria Mirificia
  • Epimedium
  • Beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB)
  • Ketones, Ketone salts/esters and synthetic raspberry ketones

If you have received a violation of selling unregistered novel food under your account then please refer to the latest performance notification sent by our team and follow the guidelines provided under what action you need to take.

If you feel that your products has incorrectly identified as restricted then you can always report the issue toseller support team.
