prices too low

I sell several products from major brands that I buy whoelsale . Sales were good but there are so many sellers that sell for just a little more than i buy it for wholseale pricing. And there are sveral products that Theres no profit because other sellers sell for too low. I dont understand how they are able to sell for that low of a price and still make a profit, revenue calculator says that of they are buying at wholesale price they arent making a profit. Are people able to buy product for lower than the whoelsale price? I dont understand.?

It appears you did not do your due diligence before deciding on what to sell here.

We are aware of sellers moving lots of volume and happy to make a few pennies per item b/c they sell a zillion of them. Clearly you are too greedy thinking you can sell a few and get rich quick

wow … man people are kinda mean here. Maybe I sounded arrogant or something, if I was please except my apology . The Items I am selling have been sourced from several different distributors or manufactures which all have them at very similar or the same wholesale price but just recently people are selling them for really cheap. Also I am not a new seller , maybe I am naive to think I should get at least $4-$5 per sale or 20-30 % profit. This is still part time but I did well over 100k last year and just recently the prices just dropped. Are people willing to make $1 or less a sale. Seems like a lot of work just for $1 per sale. There is one brand specifically I buy from the manufacturer directly at wholesale prices. I do very thorough research but I am still new. Are there manufacturers that are willing to sell for cheaper that the wholesale price ? Humbly asking

These are the reasons that I could come up with in no particular order.

1. Better distributors

2. Possibly buying direct from manufacturer (skipping the distributor)

3. Liquidating to get OUT of the listing because it wasn't profitable

4. Reducing ROI to focus on volume sales

5. OA/RA seller who got some sort of clearance and trying to make a quick buck

Overall this is why the bulk of us make sure to use one or more of the selling apps to help with purchasing decisions.

P.S. people will do it for just 1$ per sale, a lot of times even less (myself included), but when you're pushing thousands of units per week then its pretty lucrative :)

The more you buy the better the price. You are competing with bigger sellers. The make bigger orders so they get a better price then you.

Sorry if you are an experienced sell then you already know this. If you make big money lower your price.

Just because someone else is selling at a lower price, it doesn't mean they are the ones selling a lot. My guess is everyone is selling less.

If that were true then dollar stores would be full all the time.

There is not enough money in circulation for casual expenditures,

Generally, higher end companies have MAP - minimum allowed pricing. Perhaps you should contact your manufacturers asking what their MAP is---and then those in violation on amazon, you can report to the manufacturer.

One word - we have found in the past that Amazon frequently --that is, Amazon.com --the seller --frequently violates MAP which is why several of our manufacturers do not allow selling on amazon any longer nor will they sell to AMZ as they can't control them.

Lastly, we have found "new", unseasoned sellers on AMZ often confuse activity with profitability. they'll learn --perhaps the hard way. Each year we pull away from AMZ more and more because of pricing issues.

Welcome to my world. They pop up over night with thousands ready to sell, most are selling at a loss, below the cost of shipping. There are a few sellers I have noticed are the same distributors I purchased from. They change their name but their business address are the same. How can you sell an item for $3.96 when shipping alone is $5.50 I have many listings like this and over night, All my items become worthless. I made a thread about, is amazon creating business out of thin air to drive down prices.

I feel your pain. Most likely they have better distributors and are buying for a better price. If you're selling grocery items, it could be that sellers are marking down to liquidate expiring product. I've been doing the same thing as you for over a year. I always make sure the items I choose to sell are profitable, but things change quickly. Some of the products I sell will make me a 20% return for a couple months and then my fellow competitors will cut their price beyond my profitability. So I will sometimes sell product for cost or sometimes even take a loss just to liquidate product. I am making about 45% less now than I was a year ago. Its cut throat. Keep your head up and keep trying to negotiate better pricing.
