Adding to Existing FBA Listing with Different UPC

Before shipping to FBA, I need to ask: has anyone shipped inventory to Amazon FBA where your product’s UPC is different from the listing’s UPC?

It's the exact same product from the same manufacturer, but the UPC on the barcode is different from the UPC on the listing.

My concern is that there might be an issue when the shipment gets checked in at Amazon since the UPC on the barcode won’t match the UPC on the listing.

Does anyone have experience with this?

If you do this, the products will go to "Stranded" because the system will not find any listing matching this UPC.

For sure!

You can print the FNSKU and stick over the existing UPC. This is probably against Amazon's TOS, but your only possibility to sell on THAT specific listing. Otherwise create a new listing.

That is certainly risky and can get your account suspended - so: it's up to you to decide.

Sometimes it is the same product but a different version number or newer version of the product. In theory the manufacturer has used a different UPC code because it is technically a different product or perhaps it was meant for a different market. This happens a lot with products that have software versions or the PCB inside a product is different. Lots of times the manufacturers never change the UPC code despite major component changes.

Amazon's policy is same UPC for the listing you are selling on.

You can send in FBA using manufacturer UPC or choose to over label using FNSKU.

Just follow policy.
