Fulfilled By Amazon vs Fulfilled by Seller
Hi there,
I'm a new seller on Amazon. Wish to know which is better fulfilled by Amazon or fulfilled by the seller. Is it possible to switch? I'm registered as FBA right now.

For us Amazon FBA, we sell far more goods than fulfilled by seller even despite the higher costs. For some sellers, they prefer to just fulfil all products themselves so it is really up to you how you work.
If you are registered for FBA, you are able to list/sell FBA and fulfilled by seller items.
If you need to convert your existing listing to fulfilled by seller, this can be done in the manage all inventory > find the listing your want to convert > click drop down arrow next to edit > then click change to fulfilled by merchant. Alternatively, you can have two separate listings (one for fullfillment by amazon and one fulfilment by merchant). Click on the drop down arrow next to edit > add another condition > fill out all information and click the relevant option where it says fulfilment channel.

Apples and Oranges really. There isn't any better.
FBA - you get Prime badge, you get the benefit of quick delivery, but you have amazon handling customer services and likely get a higher return rate.
FBM works for slower lines, could cost less potentially.
Its all going to depend on what you sell, your setup and more.
Yes you can switch from one to the other- you can even have an FBM and FBA listed at the same time.

Works better for some than others, if you are already doing FBA, just try adding some FBM listings to your existing lines so you are running them side by side, and this will show you which is better.
We do very little FBA to be honest, we are 95% FBM as we have the warehousing and staff to work this way, however the main line we are doing on FBA we also do on FBM, and we get about the same number of orders each day on both even though the FBA is 15% more expensive to cover the additional costs.

Yes you can switch from FBA to FBM. You can have products in both FBA and FBM if you so wish.
With FBA I find I get a bigger volume of sales. With FBM the sales are smaller but you have more control over the stock, you are not paying storage and you do not have to pay removal fees if the lines are not selling.
In light of higher FBA fees for Small and Light products I am switching over 50% of my lines to FBM. Fees can often be lower on your own fulfilment so I make more profit per item. When I sell multiples I save on postage costs where as in FBA I don't get any discounts on fees if the customer orders multiples.

It's all down to trust with me. Can I 100% totally trust Amazon and their overworked minions to do their best with my items and more to the point with returns? Frankly speaking NO. So I would not consider FBA at all even if I would sell more.

I suppose it'll depend on what your postage costs are too. From today, anything under 0.5cm and small in size will go from an 86p fee to £1.34. With a second class stamp costing 75p so, for us, our letter rate products will now come back to us for FBM and no more products will go up to FBA.
If you're large letter rate then Royal Mail are soon to pop the price up so may work out cheaper sending the stock to FBA - bearing in mind storage fees, IPI capacity and so on...trial and error is the best way to go
