I lost the buy box for all my listings because someone put in for an a to z claim while the return was still in transit to me

Even though I credited the return as soon as the return got back to me, I took an ODR hit which raised it to .9 percent but amazon told me it was one percent when I asked. I represented my case on the A to Z Claim and the ODR hit was removed, but I still have no buy box eligibility after several days. My ODR is now zero percent.

When I write to support they tell me I can get the buy box back by offering better customer service but my customer service is exemplary and my ODR is now 0 percent. I have not had a sale in over a week now and I remain in buy box inelegibility on all my listings. I dont know what i can do but I lost the buy box on all my listigs on an a to z claim that is no longer counting against me

I dont know what else to do but I am getting no sales and I really didnt do anything wrong.

There is a LOT to unpack here, and much info is missing, so I am going to have to try and help you with my best guess assumptions based on your post.

First: "someone put in for an a to z claim while the return was still in transit to me".

You should be checking your A-Z Guarantee Claims page regularly, and responding immediately, even if it is during the time Amazon states you do not need to reply yet.

You DO.

Respond to every A-Z Claim as soon as possible with the facts of the case. This should avoid any incorrect initial decisions.

In THIS case, you should have responded to the Claim that it is not valid since you had not received the Return back yet.

You took the "Hit" because you were initially judged to be at fault in the A-Z Claim (I assume), and the "Hit" was removed because you had already Refunded the Buyer.

And while it IS possible, and even LIKELY that having an A-Z Claim "Hit" on your Seller Metrics could negatively affect the algorithms working in the background on Amazon, winning the Buy Box is not so simple.

The awarding of the "Buy Box" by Amazon is sometimes easily understood, and is just as often completely baffling. I have seen many instances of a Seller winning the Buy Box with a Higher Price and a Lower Seller Feedback score than competitors on the same details page. Saw one just last night in fact.

Most of us who have been here awhile have concluded that the Buy Box algorithm is complex and inscrutable, perhaps even deliberately so, and so we try not to Stress over it.

The BEST analogy for the buy Box is a Lawn Sprinkler. Sometimes you get wet, and sometimes the water hits the plant next to you.

You don't KNOW that. You ASSUME that. There are an infinite number of reasons why you have had no sales for over a week, especially considering the amount of money people are spending on Holiday food and travel, AND what products you are selling. For example, it's harder to sell Beach Umbrellas in the Winter.

I am also telling you that you do NOT have to have the Buy Box to capture sales on Amazon, I experience it every day.

What I am saying is you should not stress about this for two reasons;

1) One may not have anything to do with the other,

and

2) You can't edit/alter/change the awarding of the Buy Box on Amazon, and no one at Seller Support has that Authority either, so your plea is unlikely to succeed.

Take a deep breath and try not to stress about things you cannot control. You are not the only Seller on Amazon selling toner, so it is unreasonable to expect that YOU would always win the Buy Box.

You could consider lowering your prices, or pay for an Ad Campaign, but your competitors may do so as well, and then no one wins.

Rather than panic, it would be Best for you to think of Selling on Amazon like fishing in the ocean with a hook and line. Your products are the Bait, and you just have to wait to get a Bite. But remember that even if you put the BEST bait in the water, you can't MAKE the fish bite...

You just have to be patient, and the worm WILL turn.

Good Luck, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hello @Seller_nOrZnUPYWRJAn,

This is Josh from Amazon. Thank you for reaching out to our Forums!

I understand your frustration regarding the loss of Buy Box eligibility despite having resolved the A-to-Z claim and achieving a 0% ODR. This situation can certainly be concerning, especially given its impact on your sales.

To better assist you, it would be helpful if you could provide any case IDs from your interactions with Seller Support regarding this issue. This information will allow us to review your specific situation more thoroughly.

In the meantime, I encourage you to review our Featured Offer eligibility guidelines, which can provide more insight into the factors that influence Buy Box status.

Once you provide the case IDs, we'll be able to investigate further and provide more tailored assistance.

Best regards,

Josh
