"invoiced by Amazon" refund

just had my first return request on a 'invoice by Amazon' order, customer claims they ordered the wrong one, the order was already paid for (not deferred payment) but we have no manual refund button and it seems there is no route to processing the refund of my choice.

SS advise all i can do is confirm receipt when the goods come back (which they have not) and the buyer gets a full refund , so what if the item is used or damaged? they tell me to contact SS to document it, but what happens then?

Can someone please tell me they were able to find a fair outcome for a "invoice by Amazon" return where the return was not at the fault of the seller and you were able to recomp expenses for a damaged or used item?

It is correct that for Invoice by Amazon orders, you cannot contact the customer yourself, nor can your refund the order.

In Manage Returns, next to the Return Request, you'll see two buttons. Confirm Receipt, or Contact Amazon.

First of all, get the order back. It of course might not be used or damaged!

If it is, then Contact Amazon, essentially you'll have to raise a case with Seller Support. Note, they appear to know next to little (don't laugh) about Invoice by Amazon return and refund process. We had to very specifically state that we wanted the request to go through to the Invoice by Amazon team.
