Can't sell HALF of my used books!? First-Sale Doctrine is DEAD on Amazon!?

I know this is a problem, but it's so egregious, I have to ask for myself. I have boxes of used books, many are my old books I got new, many from thrift stores, etc. I sold books years ago on Amazon and didn't have this problem---if I recall correctly, it was just like...category ungating then? But now, I'm being asked to provide supplier invoices for like.... HALF of the books I want to sell! What!?

My AHR is 200. I have 0 issues. I just started selling books again so I have under 10 orders so far. I am at a loss for reasons why this is so bad for me. What adds insult to injury is that there's a bunch of other people selling that used book. No way that they all bought them from a "distributor" or "manufacturer". What is going on??? Is selling books on Amazon for normal people just like...dead now?

For example, I got John Lewis' March trilogy. (First book: EAN: 9781603093002, ISBN: 1603093001). There are 200+ used for sale, super cheap. All these people got directly from the manufacturer or a distributor in bulk? No way.

Update: the Amazon customer service representative basically told me that if I want to sell HALF OF MY USED BOOKS (which first-sale doctrine SHOULD apply to but clearly doesn't on Amazon), I have to have formal Letters of Authorization from the publishers!? This is the opposite of first-sale doctrine! Giving publishers the power over whether or not I can resell MY book! If I go to Barnes and Noble, buy a Harry Potter book, Amazon will NOT let me sell it unless I have a formal business and a relationship with the publisher??? There are 720 copies for sale of this harry potter book (0439784549), but I doubt all 720 people have gotten explicit approval from the publisher. I tried googling it and I can't even find information about getting LOA's from publishers.

THIS IS COMPLETELY INSANE. Okay, small-time book selling on amazon for everyday people is officially dead.

Hi there @Seller_OxiGMmVNnsWGB,

I can understand that you are frustrated with this experience but at this time Amazon has many products that require approval to sell on Amazon.com. In general Amazon requires Sellers apply for approval to ensure the authenticity of products sold on the website. I can certainly take your feedback to the appropriate leadership but please note that these policies exist to protect buyers and intellectual property. Thank you for your understanding.
