Shipping to Germany from UK
Hi there,
We are shipping to the EU for the first time from the UK since Brexit. We are using a third party carrier who will act as our IOR and will pick up from the UK, handle the customs procedure and then deliver to Amazon for us.
We have prepared 3 pallets to be collected from us. I booked these as three separate shipments to make it easier for our warehouse staff and to ensure that our first shipment goes smoothly. We have prepared the pallets with the labels and are now ready to have the stock collected.
Amazon are asking for the BOL to correspond with the shipping ID’s. I had assumed that BOL’s were only used when shipping via sea. They require each shipment to have a BOL / tracking ID that corresponds with the shipment / reference ID.
What do I need to pass on to our shipper? Will they create the BOL and the tracking IDs that have the FBA reference and ID within them? If so, because I have created 3 different shipments, will there have to be 3 different BOL’s or can I use the same one, and change the reference ID/FBA ID?
I hope this makes sense!?
Chris

I’m not familiar with shipping overseas. However, I do think it’s their terminology in regard to the BOL.
When I ship pallets into Amazon, it is the same, only I use the shipment ID, rather than a specific BOL.
And you are right, they are only supposed to be for shipping via sea.
I’m sure someone else who has actually done this will comment as well.

Shipping to Germany is complicated and expensive. Have you got an Importer of Record with boots on the ground in Germany?
Have you got an EU EORI number?
Have you paid all the VAT and duty on the shipment?
Are you VAT reg in Germany?
