Returns on opened packaging

I am on the newer side of selling on Amazon. We sell a few items that once they are opened, they can't be repackaged and thus not resellable (the original packaging is a plastic film wrapped around the products) . I know amazon is very customer oriented, are we allowed to deny returns in instances like this? In these instances the product itself is resellable, it's just the packaging that is the issue because the product is no longer "new"

Nope. You can possibly re-list in used condition for those instances.

If you choose to do anything I would suggest a small restocking fee.

Just know if you do charge a restocking fee, they can leave a bad review if they are upset.

Hi @Seller_0PxEb082Za7Y7,

Thank you for reaching out on the Seller Forums! I'm so happy to see that other sellers have chimed in here with helpful advice.

As mentioned in the replies, if you receive a return in a used, damaged, or materially different condition, you may charge the buyer a restocking fee. For more information, go to Guidelines for charging restocking fees.

If the refund has been issued by Amazon for such items, you may be eligible to file a claim for reimbursement. For more information, go to Service Safe-T claims.

For more guidelines and best practices on seller-fulfilled returns, I'd encourage you to read through the following resources:

If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please let me know!

All the best,

Jameson
