Brand Name Change Change in Policy?
Ill start this post by stating that we are the brand owner for 5 unique brands.
Currently, we have had an ongoing issue with an ASIN that, in the past month or so, seems to have had its brand changed from "X" to "Y" on Amazon's end without our knowledge (as we have not made any changes to the brand on our end) ultimately causing the Parent to break (which brought the issue to our attention). This product was created as brand "X", is packaged and labelled as brand "X", and we have never had an issue with this particular ASIN before.
We have had similar situations to this before where we have had to rebrand products that appear to have been changed erroneously by Amazon without creating a new ASIN, and it has never posed an issue. After multiple cases and back and forth with Seller Support, they insist that if we want to move forward with a brand name change, we must do so through creation of a new ASIN (essentially starting the product from scratch).
The wording on pushing Seller Support for the change can be found below:
Upon thorough investigation, we came up with the following observations:
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept your request as per Amazon's policy.
Please note that the brand name can only be updated in case if there are any minor changes in the current brand name which includes spelling error or the error related to capitalization of alphabets anything beyond that is considered as a case of re-branding which is not supported.
In this case, if you choose to rebrand a product you must create a new ASIN rather than update an existing ASIN. This is true even if the product does not change materially after the brand update.
Rebranding and packaging differences on products can cause customer order returns and can potentially hurt your metrics. To prevent this unwanted outcome, we don’t allow the brand name to be changed for an ASIN.
I have never experienced this issue before and was under the impression that recently they released a tool to make a brand name change easier, not more difficult.
Has there been a recent change to their policy where any brand name changes require an ASIN change, even for the brand owner?
We have never had an issue with any brand name changes between any of our brands where they have stated that they cannot update the brand name due to the fact that it is more than a "minor change."
Any help, info, input, ideas, or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Amazon is daily changing some rules and regulations. As long as I sell on Amazon (5 years) I always read that the title, especially the brand can NOT be modified.
If you experienced something else in a different era, these times have gone.

As @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iACnotes, Amazon rules are 'fluid' to put it nicely. 😡😡
One thing that has been causing issues is when a brand owner was using aftermarket GS1 numbers. Are your on the affected ASINs from GS1?
They seem to have become more active in matching GS1 codes to their ASIN files and MANY brands are being removed for having 'aftermarket' UPC numbers.
Amazon is cleaning house and it looks like a lot of sellers are being swept out the doors.

you should get on call with an amazon's representative and, pressurise them to change the brand name from their end.
It usually works out. if it does not, delete the product and then relist it after 24 hours, with the updated brand name in the inventory file. and do not worry, you will not loose any inventory as the inventory is linked to the ASIN number. and when you update the same ASIN number, nothing will change except the brand name. "in the update/Partialupdate/Delete" option, choose "Update"

Hi @Seller_wjz2MzOph2Hf9
I see you've begun to get some helpful insights from your fellow sellers! Thanks folks!
As for your brand question, it's tricky for me to speak to anything on the subject when I'm unsure of what exactly is going on. If you have an ongoing case with Seller Support, please send me the case ID and I can begin to look into this.

Had the same thing happen to me with (B074W76H54) the brand was always Orion some how the title and brand got hijacked to AODERTI. Case was denied as well. Obvious hyjack but nothing i can about it.

My recommendation, as I've had multiple situations where the final response is to create a new ASIN. The issue with that is all your history and reviews will be gone. How Amazon has helped me deal with this is as follows: Create new ASIN on the listing that has the incorrect brand name. Create under correct brand name. Once you are up and running, change the incorrect branded ASIN to fulfilled by Merchant with zero inventory. Leave it open so the history and reviews of the product stay.

Try opening a case with Amazons' catalog team regarding the history of the ASIN in question. Request the Title(s),Brand Name(s), Date of creattion, UPC/GTIN, etc.. Any info that may help to contest this issue.
Regular Seller Supports have limited resources and knowledge. Ask the case to be transferred to the catalog team via a chat, phone or an email.
If the responses have information in your favor, the rep might be able to reset the listing to the original information.
Are your 5 brands registered with Amazons' Brand Registry?
Good Luck!

Is there a new seller selling your products?

I've had the same thing occur with at least 6 of my products over the last year. I was able to get all of them corrected. I was very careful in my wording with Seller Support to clarify that this was not a brand change request, but instead a request for them to correct the incorrect brand name change that had previously occurred. It will just take time and persistence and being ok with repeating yourself over and over again.
