Customers need more "delivered" information when orders are shipped via USPS.
Because the items I sell are so small and lightweight (99% are 4oz or less) I ship via USPS, which gives me a much lower label cost.
Also, because they are so small, I ship 99% of them in a 6x9 poly mailer. When they are delivered with a customer's regular mail, they are often overlooked-especially if it is delivered with large mailer such as ad flyers and magazines, or with a lot of mail.
One of the first bullets on the product page tell customers to watch for it with their mail. Many customers don't read the bullets. I get emails saying they did not receive it, even though the USPS tracking information shows that it was delivered - on time - to their mailbox.
I switched to a brightly colored mailer, hoping this might help them get noticed. I don't know that it really helped.
Amazon only shows that the order was delivered and nothing more. If the customer didn't read the bullet telling them it would be delivered by USPS with their regular mail, they don't know where to look for it. If they were to look up the tracking number on the USPS website they would see: Your item was delivered in or at the mailbox at 12:55 pm on March 16, 2024 in MACON, GA 31220.
When they contact me within a day or two of the expected delivery date, I can tell them where to look and what they are looking for. Then they usually find it because they still have the mail from those days. Unfortunately, some wait so long to contact me that they no longer have the mail from those days to look through to find it.
I lose money reshipping orders that USPS shows were delivered. I know some of these might have ended up in the wrong mailbox. I don't believe that is what happens to all of them.
I wish Amazon could come up with something to tell customers where to look for these orders when they have been delivered.

Ship with Amazon Buy Shipping and direct those who say they can't find it to file an A-Z Claim which Amazon will cover as long as you shipped on time and have a physical scan no later than the ship by date. This is the template I send in such situations:
You may be eligible to request a refund under the A-to-z Guarantee if you have not received your package and three days have passed since the maximum estimated delivery date or the tracking shows a delivery confirmation, whichever is sooner. Note: Amazon also requires you to wait 48 hours after contacting the seller before you are eligible to request a refund.
Requesting an A-to-z Guarantee Refund
To request a refund on an eligible order using a LAPTOP or DESKTOP device:
1. Go to Your Orders.
2. Locate your order in the list and click Problem with order.
3. Select “Package didn’t arrive” from the list.
4. Select Request refund.
5. Enter your comments in the text box.
6. Select Submit
To request a refund on an eligible order using a MOBILE device or CELL PHONE:
1. Call 888-280-4331 or use Amazon’s mobile app to connect to Customer Support.
2. Report that you “did not receive” your order.
3. Request a refund.
Note: Refund requests can take up to one week to investigate. Amazon will notify you of their decision via the email address associated with your account. To view the status of your request, locate your order in the list on the Your Orders page and select Problem with order.
