VAT number rejected after 1 year of being accepted
Hello I hope everyone is well, about 1 hour ago i have received an email from amazon saying,
It has come to our attention that there is a problem with your VAT registration number. The UK VAT Number Validation System has concluded that your VAT registration number ******* is invalid and as a result, your VAT registration number has been declined. If you are enrolled in the VAT Calculation Service (VCS), you will no longer be able to use this service until you provide a valid VAT number. While VCS is de-activated, you must create and provide VAT invoices for this country yourself.
This was emailed after 1 year with no issues with our VAT number in the past if anyone is able to help that would be greatly appreciated,

Hello, I have just received the same email and have been deregistered from the VAT calculation service! My VAT number is valid as far as HMRC VAT checkup service, but there are other VAT lookups online saying my number has been voided! I am so confused, will contact my accountant first thing, what could be happening?

We got the same e-mail. We became a limited company a few years back, so our name on Amazon lacked the 'Ltd' registered for VAT. Had to sent a few verifications, but it is sorted now. I suspect that Az were required by HMRC to do a trawl because of fraud by (mainly) Chinese sellers who get the VAT, then close their businesses before sending the VAT to HMRC, as recently reported in the press. We were just collateral damage.

Had the same issue a week ago. The way to fix it is by deleting the VAT number from there and re-adding it.
That did it for me. It showed it was accepted and would take 5 days to activate the VCS.

Had the same thing last week like a few people are saying,
Had to add Limited at the end and change a small discrepancy in the address. Sorted now but it was hard work, with things being rejected originally and getting a reply around once every 6 hours,
Today is our first day back with it being accepted and working and sales are terrible to be honest, I was wondering if it takes a few days for it to show to Amazon business customers.

There was an error somewhere along the lines, as we had the same issue with 3 different places saying the VAT number was wrong, after a recheck it was verified.

yes us too after 12 years with the same vat number. Emailed and it is back on but now having to make manual invoices until we are back on vcs on the 27th. Affected sales also as now only showing vat inc price.
