Royal Mail Incorrect Format Charges - Warning

I wanted to warn other sellers to careful watch any incorrect LL format charges from Royal Mail.

The latest batch we received we investigated these throughly to find out that they were all within 353mm x 250mm size and thickness guidelines. Despite complaining and providing our evidence which they didnt read, we were fobbed off by Royal Mail stating it was the envelope, the envelope falls within there guidelines so needless to say we are furious about this.

I would advise all sellers to check any extra charges carefully and investigate, they seem to be on a hunt to squeeze as much revenue from there customers as possible through false claims of incorrect formats.

What with this, other past issues, lost deliveries and long delivery times, Royal Mail is not a trusted delivery partner to us anymore and we are making steps now to move our shipments away from them.

Had similar thing in September, caused me to switch to amazon shipping, also got quotes from evri but they couldn't set up quick enough. Clearly royal mail's new machines are mis-sizing items. I think a letter before action might be your best option to get a refund for those surcharges.

we had a batch of mail that they claimed was now over the avg weight of 100g as one item was 160g and not 45g as we had declared it.

the 45g item was identical to another item in the same batch that they did weigh at 45g correctly.

we did not have any 160g items - so obviously a mis-weigh.

but instead of removing the one 160g item and surcharging that they surcharged every item in that batch

not helped with the slow and often lost delivery of invoices from Royalmail.

their suggestion was to read the invoices online instead of relying/waiting on the posted copies !

Last year I had Royal Mail try to scam me for £5000 - it went all the way to the MD office.

Turned out the "calibration" of the laser machine was incorrect. I doubt this as there was duplications & everything saying 3 sent to Japan when I'd only ever in my whole time on Royal Mail sent 1 package to Japan. I hope someone got a right telling off as it caused me alot of stress over weeks and weeks. I agree they try to scam and make false claims.

Ofcom & Owen Jones head of the Business Committee & MP and who held the meetings with RM earlier this year, might be interested to hear from you.

The best surcharge what we had was for LL, they explained that maximum size is 353x250x25mm but our letter was 353x25x250mm
