Fraudulent Return - Product Substitution - FBA
This is FBA and Amazon accepted return. When I received the product back after removal request, I noticed that the serial number on the box does NOT match with what is shown on the product. The product is also broken and out of warranty. It appears buyer had broken laptop and bought a new laptop from me and returned his old broken laptop.
I asked Amazon if Amazon can take action against abusive buyer and reimburse the seller since Amazon should NOT have accepted return. However, their answer is "no". Amazon won't do anything to make it right.
Anyone else had similar issues?

File a theft report with the police in the Buyer's area -- include the serial number of the product.

we can't do anything on it. Amazon is allowing this things to happen.

Inform the client of the issue via amazons messaging system, Inform them that this has to rectified in a certain amount of time (five days) and if not rectified you will purse legal action and criminal charges for theft, Provide them with the Police report number, And inform them you don't want to take such actions and pursue it however the insurance company requires the police report to be made immediately, And inform them that the charges will be Theft under $5000.00 if its under $5,000.00, Fraud under $5,000.00 and a Federal offense of Mail Fraud under $5,000.00. Also you should inform amazon of the fraud that took place by reporting the buyer, Take photos of everything and send it to them.

Use this as a lesson learned... Amazon staff will not check the status of returned items the same way you will. Don't do FBA for items above a certain threshold. In my case that is 200$. I handle shipping and more importantly, my returns for items above 200$.
Hope this helps avoid this type of situation in the future.

Hi. I had similar issue months back where buyer returned different product not matching with serial number on the box. Buyer even opened an A-z claim. But with the message thread and pictoral evidences of the mismatch of serial numbers. The claim was won in my favour.

I have a product that is very fragile, customers keep swaping the items because I saw a different FSKU label on the return item. This is a loophole no way for Amazon to prevent from happening unless they change their return policy systemtically. I had to unlist that product sadly.

We sell engine oils etc.. buyers will buy the oil and return THE USED engine oil and amazon doesn't even notice,
they just happily refund the customer, when i talk to support they don't seem to care at all
