postal adjustments
We have been getting adjustments for the last 2 months. Going through these adjustments I found out that something isn't adding up. I had a package that I put the weight at 4oz the postal charge was $4.02. Amazon adjustments said the package weighed .32oz. they said the cost was 4.43 an adjustment of $.041.
How can their adjustment weigh less but they charged me 0.41 more. I talked to the postmaster and he did not understand it either. He also said the USPS is NOT doing the audits. He said if they were, they would be charging at the front end or giving the package back to me the sender.
I would like to know who in Amazon audited my package and explain the process of auditing and how it can weigh less and charge more. And before someone asks why I'm worried about $ .041, is because I have hundreds of packages mailed weekly.

Hi @Seller_XT5cLb65cRJYV,
Thank you for reaching out about this!
I'd be happy to take a further look into this situation to see how I can best help here! When you have a moment, can you please send me your Seller Support case IDs for this?
Thanks again,
Jameson

The postage adjustment system has no audit for it; literally the USPS, UPS, or FedEx can claim what ever they want and Amazon just accepts it and charges us.
Any system that goes unchecked WILL be abused. Amazon needs to pu some type of audit int the postage feedback system.

I personally have seen it in mine too. Two weeks ago, I had (other) in the amount of $200. I went and looked and some where less weight same sizing and charged more than the cost I paid on Amazon. I just didn't think it was worth the fight to be honest. I hope someone figures it out! Please update!

We get these regularly, even when the size and weight are correct. Either buy shipping has a glitch on the rates, or the USPS is abusing the system.

@genesysdtp is correct. The .32 indicated on the report means .32 pounds which translates to 5.12 oz.
So USPS is saying that you paid the 4oz price when the package really weighed 5.12 oz.
Clicking on the link provided by @KJ_Amazon, and then clicking a link on that page, and so on, I came to a page that stated the following:
"USPS runs each package in its network through the Automated Package Verification System (APV). This system helps USPS verify your package’s weight, dimensions, and other information are accurate. If USPS determines that you underpaid or overpaid for postage, or used a different package or service from what you entered when buying your label, they will automatically charge or credit your Amazon account for the difference."
I am nearly positive that the APV is not always correct, but I don't know how to prove it. In addition, I have been charged additional postage for entering the weight .01 of an ounce off!! Seriously!
And USPS sure does seem to hit Amazon packages the hardest. I ship on eBay too, and have only had a handful of adjustments compared to hundreds with Amazon!
When I get fed up enough, I will start looking into contacting USPS about this, because I already know contacting Amazon will yield zero help.
