Inventory receiving transferring to 56 Fulfillment centers

Why is Amazon transferring my new shipment with inventory (200 units) to almost 56 fulfillment centers? Even though I selected the option while creating shipment to lessen the FCs.

Hi @Seller_DE0MOw8Fd1GfE,

I understand your frustration about having inventory split across so many fulfillment centers. Let me share what I found in the help documentation that might explain what's happening and what options you have.

According to the FBA inbound placement service page, there are a few ways you could potentially reduce the number of fulfillment centers:

You could try using "Minimal shipment splits" which typically sends inventory to a single location (though there is a fee that varies by region). Or if you're able to pack at least 5 identical cartons with the same quantities, the "Amazon-optimized shipment splits" option has no fee.

One thing to keep in mind - I noticed in the "What happens if I create a shipping plan that includes a combination of standard-size items..." section that certain types of products may need to go to specific fulfillment centers, even with minimal splits selected. This includes things like oversized items, dangerous goods, and specialty categories.

A helpful tip from the documentation: Creating separate shipments for standard-size items, non-standard items, and special handling categories might give you more control over the placement options available.

I hope this helps explain some of your options!

Best regards, Michael
