Need Advice: Invested $10,000 in Amazon FBA, No Sales in 90 Days – Facing Losses

Dear Amazon Sellers and Experts,

I am reaching out to this community with the hope of finding guidance, support, and possibly a helping hand in what has become a difficult situation for me as a new Amazon seller.

Back in Jan 2025, after extensive research and careful planning, I selected 7 products using Jungle Scout data and insights. I ensured the products had good demand, decent profit margins, and relatively manageable competition. Based on that, I invested around $10,000 USD, which covered inventory, shipping, labeling, FBA prep, and related expenses.

My listings went live since end of Feb 2025, and everything seemed ready for success. Unfortunately, it's now been over 90 days, and I haven't made a single sale. I’ve tried to optimize titles, images, and bullet points. Despite my efforts, the products are just sitting in Amazon's warehouse.

Meanwhile, I’m constantly getting charged monthly FBA storage fees, fulfillment fees, and other Amazon-related charges, all of which are being debited from my personal credit card. I am now at a point where I'm facing a complete loss, with a growing financial burden and no sign of recovery.

I understand there are many variables at play—pricing, listing visibility, PPC, competition, etc.—but I truly feel lost now and don’t know what to do next.

I’m humbly requesting:

- Honest advice from experienced sellers—what should I do differently to get sales going?

- Suggestions on listing improvements, PPC strategy, or any practical ideas that have worked for you.

- If anyone is willing to offer free consultation or a quick audit of my listings, I’d be truly grateful.

- Any ideas for liquidating slow-moving inventory if there’s no way forward to at least the actual product cost.

This is my first attempt at building a business on Amazon, and I sincerely believed in the potential. I’m not ready to give up yet—but I can’t afford to keep burning through money without results either.

Thank you in advance to anyone willing to share their experience or guidance. Even a few helpful tips could make a world of difference right now.

Warm regards,

Team Xpress VirtuOcart

Looks like your trying to sell generic products with lots of completion. That's exactly how I started many years ago and lost a ton of money. Quickly realizing everyone is trying to do the same thing, and it doesn't work anymore. I started looking for merchandise that had local demand. Started selling to small stores and flea market vendors. Once I had good demand for my products, I purchased more for Amazon. I knew if they didn't sell online, I could always sell them locally.

IMHO, first thing you have to do is create a brand and register it. Find your local niche. Once you have some local demand you can start to explore online.

Amazon should be an extension of your business. Not your only business.

I will give you my totally honest advice here.

Nowadays Amazon is turning more difficult to us sellers to be success selling on the platform and right now it is definitely not the best time to start . Its something happening every month. They always come with something to make our lives harder and harder. So think like that. You eventually will make money with your sale but Amazon is the one making most of the money with all the moves you make. So keep that in mind so you do not get upset later on.

If was me starting now, I would not launch 7 products at the same time. Think like that, gurus out there are always selling the wrong idea. They say: You launch your product and after that you are not doing anything else. Just spending 30 min a day and you are done. Not true. You gonna need to continue checking everything around your product. You gonna need to go everyday to your ppc campaigns and check if they are doing good or not, you gonna need to be on top of the page about your competitors about what they are doing, etc. So when you have 7 products it is a struggle for you to manage all those products.

Make sure your listing has the best images, the best bullet points, the best A+ content, etc. Customers on amazon are buying looking into images. So keep that in mind. Make sure your images are the best ones within your niche. And when I say the best, make them the best. I personally been selling on amazon for about 2 years now, and I have 2 products. I learnt how to use photoshop just so I can make sure my images are top notch all the time. So keep that in mind.

And the last thing I will tell you is that 90 days still early to tell if your products are the best and they are going to succeed or not. On my case for example, one of my products who I am selling for a year, I am still breaking even sometimes, but I am positive about it. So I will continue to invest on it. So make sure you follow those steps, and also use your time wisely when doing things with amazon. One thing for example, be really careful with your PPC campaigns. Make sure you learn the best way to manage them cause they will be the ones eating all your profits, and Amazon loves that. So be careful. If you want I can try to help you. let me know. Cheers.

Before you started selling on Amazon, you first had to do a study of each product you were going to sell. The first step you had to analyze was the problem you were facing. You had to analyze this scenario first to know what you were going to do.

Sent 155 pieces of one ASIN to FBA. Got sale of 115 pieces and rest they lost 40 pieces. When created ticket for seller support...they marked incorrect discrepancy into one of our shipment stating they received only 28 pieces instead of 50 pieces. 22 pieces were not sent as per their findings which is totally incorrect... Instead of saying they lost 22 pieces they are blaming us that we did not sent it. Also they do not have anything to say on 18 pieces (total 40 missing-22 false discrepancy). This is how FBA works. Even if you submit everything with proofs what they will reimburse is 2$ for 200$ items. This is how they earn money.

It happens sometimes. But if you trust only PPC, you are wrong. PPC is very competitive these days, and it will eat into your profit. Besides PPC, focus on the Organic part and outside marketing. I am also selling on Amazon,n and I faced the same issue. I started with 20K, and I didn't get more than 5 sales a day even after 3 months. No good advice for your particular problem... however, your post is a good teaching tool for all wannabe new Amazon sellers. There are millions of third party sellers on Amazon. Most new businesses in this country fail. Even when Amazon started they lost money for their first 9 YEARS! Do you have the resources to run your business for the next nine years without turning a profit? Yes, people can and do start businesses every day and make a lot of money, but that is the extreme minority. I know (hope) you didn't but many people watch videos on YouTube and Instagram and X, etc. promising to teach you how to make thousands on Amazon. They sell people courses for like $500. The only person most of the time making money is the person selling the courses. I wish you luck. I hope you find a way to at least break even on this adventure and I hope you have learned a lot for the next time (there will be a next time, you have the "bug" that we all have!)

This is a HUGE problem that explains the posts we see daily on this forum by desperate sellers in big trouble.

They trusted the masterclass gurus and private telegram groups and Junglescout/H10 marketing and blundered into this marketplace without understanding Amazon's rules or the reality of running a business. Instead of instant riches or steady 'passive income,' they are sitting on inventory they can't sell or account violations they can't fix, no matter how many support tickets they file.

Amazon may be making some money from account fees and ad clicks, but it's causing a huge support load not to mention costs associated with developing automated tools for policy enforcement, account verification, etc. Amazon needs to combat the misinformation, either by clearer communication with sellers (such as crystal clear explanations of specific violations instead of vague Section 3 or "counterfeit" goods citations) or even better by shutting down the worst offenders, whether its app developers or masterclass operators.

Putting all of your eggs in the Amazon basket was your worst mistake. You should've started by doing Amazon FBM(to see how it did BEFORE shipping it all to FBA) and also selling on other big platforms like Walmart, ebay, Target, etc.

Now you're going to have to recall a good portion of your inventory before you go completely broke and I seriously recommend that you look into the other websites that I suggested.

That doesn't sound a great place to be !

I can't see any interaction with commenters, some/most of the advice is decent, "humbly" would suggest thanking people for their help, even it's overly critical, irritating or irrelevant, and interacting with the ones who have offered decent advice.

Anyway, as others have said, Amazon isn't an "easy" nut to crack - takes investment and consistent effort.

Based on the post, I couldn't find a store, or your products, or a brand, so a few generic suggestions :

1. Brand is important, TM's are quickest/safest via IP accelerator program. Why ? Vine, and, other tools and privileges, not offered to non Brand registered sellers.

2. With tariff situation, a lot of chaos right now. Amazon do like their fees :) - so try leverage strengths here.

3. PPC I found optimal for me right now, I use AutoGen - may be different for you. At the start, I did a lot of keyword research and spent heavily on PPC, eventually my listing showed organically.

4. UGC for Amazon Shoppable videos - lots of contractors on fiverr who may help, for a fee, usually inexpensive - or make them yourself, and share on your socials.

5. Socials/Brand or Corp websites, Search engine presence - again why one's Brand ties everything together.

6. Leverage any AI tools you can - basic example - draft copy for Bullets + Listing, improve what the AI spits out. Perplexity I find very helpful for finding out how to do stuff on Amazon, it can trawl the web, and, often provide help, just need to ask the right questions.

If you're thinking of quitting Amazon, you could fulfill stock out to somewhere like eBay from Amazon with fulfillment orders. Suggest in this case, goal would be to get back as much money as possible, to reduce the loss.

For reference I've been live selling since Oct/Dec-24, and still hovering around break even (on Amazon costs only + COGS -- so a loss in real terms) - ie not an expert, but longer than you.

My suggestion, if you're serious about a business on Amazon (which a $10000 investment is very small, for any business) - would be to take your lessons, however harsh, learn from them and improve what your doing - this is the harsh reality of business, it takes time, investment and much effort, with no 100% guarantee of success.

As the Amazon guy said, there are plenty of Amazon resources, Helium10 I found generally pretty good (never used Jungle scout, but, I believe has similar features and intel), and YouTube channels like "Lunch With Norm", and many others, that have extensive back-catalogues of intel. Ignore the "get rich quick" people, it's very rare that people do.

This is my first attempt at building a business on Amazon, and I sincerely believed in the potential. I’m not ready to give up yet—but I can’t afford to keep burning through money without results either.

At least you got your products in before the tariffs struck. Tariffs will change everything.

When I calculated everything, I was in the Loss, and Amazon PPC had eaten my profit.

Later, I stopped PPC and hired an Agency for my organic part. Now 75+ sales a day and really good.

I invested around $10,000 USD, which covered inventory, shipping, labeling, FBA prep, and related expenses.
