Upcoming changes to Amazon Renewed offer listings: Deaht Knell for Renewed Electronics
If the parent ASIN has no New listings and a Used item is in the Buy Box, when the Renewed listings join the parent ASIN will they have Buy Box priority over Used-Like New? If not, this is the death knell for Renewed Electronics sales.
Subject: Upcoming changes to Amazon Renewed offer listings
Hello,
This email provides an update for Amazon Renewed sellers on a new listing experience in our US store. Starting in late September, "Refurbished – Excellent" offers for electronics products, such as speakers and headphones, will be integrated onto the main product detail pages, alongside new and used offers.
We'll share the precise launch date with you soon to ensure you have at least 30 days' notice.
To help you plan for this change, go to Listing offers for refurbished electronics products and start evaluating any changes that may be needed to your operations.
Additionally, here are the steps to take once the new listing experience launches:
For existing offers, we'll automatically migrate or merge affected Renewed offers to main ASINs so you don’t have to do this manually. You can monitor your offers on Manage Inventory and make edits as needed.
For any new offers you intend to add after the launch date, you must use the "Refurbished" value for both the offer condition and sub-condition. If you don't find an option for adding the refurbished condition when you create your offer, contact Renewed seller support as detailed on our help page.
If you're restricted from listing any brand or ASIN for a refurbished offer, submit a selling application and select the condition type "Refurbished."
You're no longer required to create standalone ASINs for Renewed offers. If an ASIN that you intend to sell already exists in our catalog, simply add an offer on that listing using the "Refurbished" condition.
If the ASIN isn't available in our catalog, create a new ASIN using the List Your Products page. Do not use the "(Renewed)" suffix in the title when creating new ASINs.
Since our last update in March, we've conducted thorough reviews, analyzed seller feedback, and run experiments to ensure a seamless buying experience for customers. These efforts are helping customers choose the offer that best meets their unique preferences and will provide better visibility for your refurbished products.
The first phase of this launch will include only the "Refurbished – Excellent" offers for electronics products in the US store. Apple, Beats, and Renewed Premium products will be excluded from this phase.
The new listing experience will be rolled out using the "Refurbished" condition, which is distinct from the "Used" condition and remains a different tier of non-new selection.

Hello @Seller_qtcrOMsXAQy6A,
Thanks for reaching out with your question regarding the Featured Offer. I'm sorry but I won't be able to give a definitive answer as there are many factors that go into selection for the Featured Offer and the process is proprietary and confidential. What we can say is Amazon will select the most compelling offers from available new, used, and refurbished product listings for the Featured Offer. You can review this change on the Listing offers for refurbished electronics products help page. Thank you for your understanding.

I don't understand how Amazon can classify this as a "customer experience upgrade". This will only cause confusion!
There are already so many Amazon customers that purchase Renewed condition items, and don't understand that it is REFURBSIHED. Now we're supposed to trust these same customers to differentiate conditions when the offers are on the same listing??
Also, what about warranty? Is Renewed going to have to uphold the manufacturer's NEW warranty even though the offer is not new? Renewed typically includes 90-day warranty, handled by Amazon Renewed or the seller. Brand new includes whatever manufacturer warranty and is handled directly by the manufacturer. You can't tell me these items are the same and belong on the same listing/offers.

We sell renewed electronics, and I strongly urge that Renewed items remain distinct and not be merged with Used listings. I agree with the concerns others have expressed, and I have something additional to say.
We invest significant time and labor to restore these products to a renewed condition, ensure they are in original packaging, and provide original accessories to our customers. Combining Used and Renewed listings would undermine our efforts:
1) our products would likely receive lower ratings associated with used items;
2) our carefully curated product photos could be replaced by low-quality images of dirty, scratched items from other sellers. We aren't even able to upload quality images due to restrictions from the brand owner;
3) Renewed sellers invest heavily in advertising their products. Are these now considered unexpected business losses?
You may wonder how we know this might happen - I can tell you it's already occurred with some of our Renewed listings, which were reclassified as "refurbished."
So, we would like to hear from the Amazon Renewed Seller Support Team - not about how the Featured Offer algorithm works, but rather the reasons behind this "customer experience upgrade" and how sellers with renewed electronics can mitigate the negative impacts I mentioned above.
