What's the current opinion on Click & Drop Large Letter scans?
Since 2D codes came into existence I’ve read many posts re LLs stating yes they are scanned and many saying no they are not.
The RM C&D Area Manager today informed me, with certainty, that although all delivery persons are instructed to scan everything with a Code sticker, the ones created as a LL will have the data sent to a black hole never to be found or used again.
Does this ring true?
Does anyone have tangible proof that LL Barcodes can/have been tracked on Track-n-Trace, or somewhere else?
While we are at it, If anyone has an idea of how long it takes to produce a bulk manifest of say 200 orders, by that I mean how long to open C&D do the business, allocate the Shipping Class to perhaps 80 different products, and end up with everything ready to stick on the packets, I would be delighted to hear from you.
Currently it takes me about 10 mins.

When I use RM48/RM24 the majority do get scanned and show as delivered.
If using just 1st/2nd class, not sure if they get scanned but they will never show as delivered.

I send a lot of LLs through C&D and they do get scanned. I had multiple where’s my stuff queries over the busy Christmas period and the majority of them gave delivery confirmation, or info to the effect that delivery had been attempted.
I think the confusion arises because it is only LLs sent using the CRL code that are monitored. So while the postie may scan all only the ones sent using CRL will be reflected in their tracking system and the others using a different code will indeed just go into a black hole.

The 2 D Royal Mail bar codes are scanned but for Large Letter they are not. Amazon still do not recognise the 2D bar codes even though they say that they count codes that are scanned at least once! Some inconsistency there I think!

Try playing around with your browser when manifesting.
We found Click & Drop seems to manifest faster on Chrome.

Posties have a 90% scan target. The issue appears to be over the peak xmas periods they employ lots of temp staff who do not care about these targets and these are affecting our metrics

All are scanned but only those sent under the CRL code will show on the system.

Yes 2d LL are scanned and show delivery confirmation. I have had the odd one that isn’t, could be down to teh postie just not scanning it. The same as all jobs, some people just don’t do it right, most do.

According to an announcement on the Click and Drop website last year they started to scan large letters BUT only if you send them by RM48 (code CRL) if you send them second class (code BPL) they still are not scanned!
Will try and find the announcement…

So it seems the announcement itself has been deleted from C&D website …but I did have the foresight to copy it and this is what it says…
"We have recently enabled Delivery Confirmation on Large Letter format for customers who use Royal Mail 24 and Royal Mail 48 through Click & Drop. Delivery Confirmation has been developed for fulfilment items and is available on Royal Mail 24 / Royal Mail 48 Parcels and Large Letters and on Parcels sent via STL and BPL. STL and BPL are aimed at the document market and consequently we have no plans to extend Delivery Confirmation to the Large Letter format of STL and BPL.
Customers who don’t currently have access to Royal Mail 24/ Royal Mail 48 and who post more than 1,000 Large Letters and, or Parcels a year may benefit from having these added to their account. You can request this by contacting your Account Manager or by ringing 08457 950 950. By moving to Royal Mail 24/ Royal Mail 48 you may also benefit from additional savings linked to average weights and volume related discounts.
