Return missing parts

Hello,

I have recently received a return which was described as ‘missing parts’.

It was a lego set worth £145 purchased on 19/11/20 and returned 86 days later. I contacted the buyer to find out which parts were missing so I could send replacements out but I received no reply so I approved the return.

I expected a couple of pieces to be missing, to refund the buyer in full, purchase the missing parts and sell the set as used. However, upon opening the return I have found almost half of the pieces are now gone.

I understand he has stated that parts were missing but this has happened to me before so in order to combat this I now write the weight of the lego set on the side of the box with a UV pen before I send them out.

This set was 632g when posted and now weighs 493g. As mentioned almost half of the bricks are gone, so the missing parts would cost as much as a new set so the item is practically worthless now.

The questions I have are: How much should I refund the buyer? (I thought 50%). Would I win an a2z claim if I submit proof of the weight and where I have written the weight on the side of the box?

Also I read on another similar post that it is possible to report the buyer and this should be done before any refund is issued.

Thanks for your time,

Russell

Good idea maybe better doing it so people can see it clear going forward, our pack slips we use a stamp that says checked as simple as it is if qty is 2 it’s stamped twice sonce we started that only one attempted claim we asked for a image of the pack slip then the other item turned up when we said we would check the lines cctv against that slip.

The worry is always A-Z I totally agree partial refund but would maybe email customer first prior to action explaining the weight out in etc and the reasons for the deduction so you get an idea of what they are going to do

Obviously removed and kept the pieces they were needing for their own set - I really cannot believe the fraudulent activity of some people - no conscience whatsoever.

It appears to me the fear of having an A-Z claim has deterred a lot of sellers standing up for their rights.
