Hi @Seller_mhINyNDWnDl9U,
From what I gather, you’re aiming to set up a three-tier variation structure for your clothing products—am I on the right track?
Unfortunately, Amazon doesn’t allow sellers to fully customize how many or which attributes are configurable by customers. Instead, you’re limited to predefined 'Variation Themes' that are specific to each product category.
If you’re interested in the technical details, this page might be useful: images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/rainier/help/xsd/release_1_9/ProductClothing.xsd
Search for 'VariationTheme,' and you’ll find a list of the available templates for clothing products.
Based on what you’re trying to achieve, 'specialsizetype-sizename-colorname' (which you already mentioned) or 'fittype-sizename-colorname' might work best.
If you’ve already tested these or encountered any issues, feel free to share more details—I’d be happy to help!
Kind regards, Michael

It is possible... We use this setup on some of our listings. Did you figure it out?

3 tier variations are no longer supported for new listings in many categories. I know there are still some in clothing though.
Those you see in many categories are grandfathered in, but it is not possible to create new ones.
I had a need for them too, so have been down this road (I was not trying in clothing).
Can you give us the specific category you are using to download the template for the listing and I can see if it gives me 3 variable options.
When I generate one for "SHIRT" it gives me these options:
- SIZE/COLOR/NUMBER_OF_ITEMS
- SIZE/COLOR/TEAM_NAME/ATHLETE
- SPECIAL_SIZE_TYPE/SIZE/COLOR
- TEAM_NAME/SIZE/COLOR
Of these, it seems that SPECIAL_SIZE_TYPE/SIZE/COLOR should work.

It is frustrating when someone asks a question and then I spend real time trying to help and you cannot even reply or read the reply!
